Chapter 9: You'll never forget

Vanessa's POV

We've been on the road for about 2 hours already, Jason's hand still in mine, and all I can think of was what Jason said.

"This is a trip you will never forget, baby." His words replaying in my head.

What does he mean? Is he going to kill me? He still a stranger and I know nothing about him! What if he does kill me?!

'Just shut up, Vanessa! He isn't going to kill you! He's going to protect you like he says he will so stop over thinking!' my conscience told me.

I calmed down a bit, admiring the beautiful scenery around me.

I looked over at Jason. His beautiful caramel brown eyes glistening in the light, his perfectly tanned skin glowing, his pink plump lips in a cute little smirk, his gorgeous brownish hair moving slightly as the air from the air conditioning blew against it.

I smiled, taking in all his flawless features.

"Why are you staring at me." he giggled, his perfect little giggle.

"I-I dunno." I stuttered, blushing.

He kissed the top of my hand and continued our journey. I almost forgot Ryan and Matthew were in the backseat, I've been so oblivious of who I'm with other than Jason.

His words were still sitting in the back of my mind, though. I wonder what he means, it's literally eating me alive.

We stopped in a nearby gas station, Jason pulling his hand away to put the gear on park.

"Do you want anything?" He asked.

"Why can't I go?" I asked.

"Because you're still missing remember, who knows if someone sees you and calls the police or something." he said, sympathy in his eyes.

I pouted and crossed my arms.

"Ugh. Fine wear my hoodie and glasses." he groaned, a smile slightly forming on his lips making me smile also.

I threw on his hoodie and sunglasses as he grabbed another hoodie from the backseat.

He closed his door and came around to my side and helped me out.

He held my hand as we made our way into the store, making all the butterflies start to flutter around.

Jason opened the door and let me in like a gentlemen.

"Thank you." I smiled and walked inside.

"You're welcome." Jason also smiled, wrapping his arm around my waist.

Jason removed his arm and we went our separate ways to get what we wanted.

From the aisle I was standing at, I could see the cashier flirting with Jason while he chose something from the counter.

He looked annoyed but I wasn't sure.

"Babe, do you think the boys would want anything?" Jason slightly shouted, cutting off the cashier.

I quickly grabbed what I wanted and walked over to Jason, "I don't think so, they'll probably be asleep the whole trip." I said.

He nodded and kissed my cheek, taking what I had in my hand and putting it on the counter.

"You two have kids?" The cashier spat.

"Yup, two and one on the way." Jason smiled, holding my stomach.

She glared at me, disgusted.

"Is there something wrong with your eyes?" Jason asked, his eyes darker than before.

"N-no." she stuttered, obviously afraid of this version of Jason and also making me kinda scared.

"Then why are you looking at my wife like that?" He asked, venom dripping with every word.

"I-Im sorry." she stuttered again.

Jason glared at her and slammed a $100.00 dollar bill on the counter and grabbed all of our stuff.

"I'm really sorry." I whispered, following him out.

He put all the groceries on his seat and slammed the door shut while I got into the passenger seat, grabbing the stuff from him seat.

He angrily pumped gas in the van, irritating me slightly but I'm too afraid to interfere.

Once he was done, he jammed the pump into the slot and got into the car quickly.

"Fuck, where are the keys!" He mumbled under his breathe.

He reached over and started looking through Ryan's pockets and pulled out the key.

"Dipshit." He said, sitting back in his seat. He put the key into the ignition and drove off quickly.

I looked out the window the rest of the car ride, I could feel Jason's gaze burning holes in my back.

He tried to grab my hand but I jerked it away.

"Vanessa, what's wrong?" He asked, a little more calmer than before at the gas station.

"What the hell happened at the gas station?" I asked, still looking outside the window.

"What do you-" he began to ask but I cut him off,

"You know what I mean. When you blew up on the cashier just because she talked to me like that." I said.

"I got upset because she was looking at you like you're a piece if shit when basically it's the other way around." He responded.

"It's not like I've never been talked to like that. I've been stuck with Derek for almost 3 years I'm kinda use to it." I said.

"That's the thing. I hate the fact that you were treated like shit when you're not! You're nothing close. Im sorry if I bothered you and made you upset, I was just trying to protect you like I said I would." he said, taking my hand in his.

I smiled softly, knowing he truly wants to protect me.

"Aww, Jasey." Ryan and Matt gushed sarcastically.

"Shut the hell up, assholes." Jason said, blushing a little.

"Y'all are so cute." Matt smiled but sadness obvious in his tone.

Jason ignored his comment and turned on the radio.

"Derek Thompson, 20 years old, taken to jail today at 3:40 pm. He says it was Jason McCann who set him up and there are signs that McCann was home when the crime took place." A news reporter spoke,
"But no trace of where he could've escaped."

"And that's how the Jason McCann does it." Jase smirked, proud at his work when he really did nothing at all.

"What work? You were drunk out of your fucking mind." Ryan laughed.

"Well your dumbass "dropped" the keys and I had to jumpstart the damn car. And by the way, I found them in your pocket, dipshit." Jason laughed.

"Opps." Ryan said, sheepishly.

We all began to laugh and make jokes for the rest of the way there. I haven't had this much fun in a long time and I'm happy I get to spend this time with Jason.

I smiled to myself and looked out the window finally seeing light is the best thing you could ask for.
