~Kaylee
Slipping into my jeans, sweater top and converse, putting a bit of light makeup and pulling my hair into a ponytail, I was ready. I was in a pretty good mood and I was feeling a lot better today so I decided to put a little effort in my appearance.
Picking up my phone I checked the time before going ahead to check my messages. Still no new texts from Christian, ever since that day after calling and texting me, he hasn’t tried to reach me after.
I would but I wanted to meet him and talk to him one on one, after that whole incident I felt like talking on the phone wouldn’t be enough. I did send him a message that we would talk later but he didn’t even respond to it.
He had the right to be angry. I ran off after his confession. I mean I would be mad too if I told someone I loved them and they ran off like that.
“What if I told you I loved you and I want to live happily ever after with you?”
My heart skipped a beat as his words floated through my mind. Well technically it wasn’t much of a confession, more of a question?
What if he was just messing with me and wanted to see how I would react. My cheeks heated up at that thought but I waved it off, he wouldn’t do that…
Grabbing my phone and keys, I made my way out of the house to my car. Breathing in the new car scent, I inserted the key into the ignition and turned it on.
Remind me why I refused to let Rick get me a new car a long time ago? Yeah, I was an idiot. Reversing out of the house, I drove off to school.
The game had barely started and the auditorium was already filled. I walked around through the cheering crowd looking for a place to seat when I heard someone call my name. I turned to the direction of the voice when I saw Aella, Jake and Ryan seated already. Aella waved at me as she motioned for me to come.
Waving back I went over to meet them thanking God there was an empty seat still there.
“Hey!” I greeted taking the seat.
“Hey, where have you been? It’s been weeks!” Aella exclaimed in her usual bubbly and chirpy voice.
“Just a little sick that’s all.” I half lied.
Sick yeah, little not so much if you count the near death experiences.
“Just in time for the game.” Jake said offering me a drink which I politely declined.
And of course Ryan spared me just a look and then turned his eyes back to the game. Typical.
Eventually, the game started and the players filed into the court before it officially began. I had my eyes on Christian as he moved across the court passing and bouncing the ball with his team mates.
There was a lot of cheering, yelling, booing, drinks snacks name them all. I wondered why I had never gone to a basketball game before, especially when you’re seated next to an overzealous fan who literally yelled so loud that it sounded over the commentator’s voice.
“Yessssssss!” Aella shouted as another shot was thrown into the net making me chuckle.
The game eventually ended and Christian’s team lost with just a point. The other school was cheering while ours were booing at them.
“Bummer, the first time we’ve lost for years.” Jake said as we got up.
“It was kind of expected, Christian is their star player and he’s been seeming off lately.” Aella said.
“Wait what do you mean off?” I frowned.
“He’s been off this week. I was going to ask if anything happened between you two. Melissa has literally been glued to his side since too and he’s not telling us anything either.” she explained.
