It's been a month since my mom died. I felt truly alone now. I lost my dad a year ago now I lost my mom too. I always thought it was weird how they died the exact same day.

My mom had been sick for some time and it got to a point she barely came out of her room. It was my dad's death anniversary that day and I remember feeling like crap when I woke up. I couldn't even cry because I was so emotionally exhausted at that point. It's funny how it's been years now, but it hasn't been the same since.

I forced myself to get up and make breakfast. Serving out my mom's own, I took it up to her room. She was laying on the bed facing the opposite way when I walked in but the breathing noises she was making made me realise something was wrong.

"Mom." I called out dropping the tray.

She didn't answer, the weird breathing noise she was making continued.

"Mom? Are you ok?" I climbed the bed and rolled her over.

She was shaking as she tried to breath, her tear streaked face staring at me in pain.

"Mom...what is it?" I asked starting to panic now. "Your medicine, you haven't taken it yet!"

I tried to get down to rush and get her medicine but she held my hand and weakly pulled me back.

"Mom let me just get your drugs...you'll feel better." I cried.

She shook her head and tried to smile.

"I-I'm fine. It's O-ok-okay." she forced out pulling me closer till I was lying down on the bed next to her.

"No it's not." I croaked out feeling the tears fall out from my eyes. "I can't....Mom I can't lose you too."

"You're n-not going to lo-loose me." she said forcing the words out.

I shook my head. "Let me call a doctor....please?"

"Just st-stay with me." she opened her arms with a smile.

Wiping my tears, I snuggled next to her as she wrapped her arms around me gently stroking my hair. I didn't know how long we stayed there but her breaths were getting fainter by the minutes.

"You know I love you Kaylee...your dad loved you even more." She said in a small voice. She wasn't forcing her words out anymore, but her voice was so low, I could barely make out what she was saying. "Even if we're not right next to you, we are in your heart. In your memories."

I turned to look at her. "Why are you talking like you're going? You can't...you'll be ok. Promise me..."

"Kaylee...I'm not getting any better. I can't make a promise I can't keep." She said with a sigh. "So instead, promise me Kaylee. Promise me you'll keep on fighting, promise me you'll live on for us. Promise me you'll be strong."

"I promise." I said without hesitation as I hugged her tightly.

I could hear her faint heartbeat as I rested my head on her chest, it was dangerously low.

"I love you Kaylee." She whispered.

"I love you too."

I listened to her heartbeat gradually slow and finally stop. She was gone, her body limp and cold against mine.

Everything else that day was a blur, I could barely remember how I ended up in the hospital. All I knew was I was in some corridor in a hospital, the doctors around kept muttering things to me and giving me pitiful glances. I was numb...literally numb.

The next few days didn't go any better either, I had to stay in an orphanage because none of my relatives wanted to take me in. I didn't blame them, who wanted a sick dying girl as a burden.

I eventually had to go back to school and I thought maybe I would feel better if I had my friends to talk to, and it did. Or so I thought.

I wasn't quite popular at school, I didn't do anything to make me stand out. The only persons I talk to the most were my two best friends. Bella and Becca, they were identical twins. So as I walked into the school building, I found it strange that all eyes were on me.

Slowing down my pace, I looked around frowning. They were staring, whispering and even pointing. I could barely hear what they were saying. Trying my best to ignore them, I made my way to my locker and spotted the twins. We had our lockers close to each other so we always met up there in the morning.

"Hey guys." I said forcing a smile as I walked up to them.

I don't know what I was expecting but I definitely did not expect them to just walk away like I hadn't talked to them. I just stared at them in disbelief as they walked away.

Throughout that week, nothing changed. The twins were still acting weird and barely talked to me and everyone else was avoiding me as well, they didn't even try to hide the fact that they were talking about me.

I eventually found out someone started a rumor about me that I was the reason why both my parents died and if anyone came near me, they'd probably have bad luck like them. Hearing that was a huge blow but not as much as finding out it was my own best friends that's started the whole rumor.

When I confronted them about it, Bella had a bored look on her face and just denied it with a small smirk on her face. Becca couldn't look me in the eyes but she denied it too.

I never understood why they did that to me but all I know is the little hope and life left in me vanished that day.

I cried my eyes out when I got home till I had no tears left and I could barely breathe. It's been getting hard for me to breathe lately but I wished it would get harder and harder till I couldn't breathe eventually and just die.

And that was what I tried to do. I took a pillow, stuffed my face into it and tried to stop breathing but no matter how much, I just couldn't seem to do it.

I gave up and hugged my pillow tighter as I fell asleep on the ground.

That was the beginning of my hatred for myself, everyone and the world.
