For an entire week, I had peace of mind. No school and no people, just me, my bed and my novels.

What’s that phrase again?

C’est la vie!

Ding! My phone rang interrupting my little moment of peace. I rolled over on my bed and picked my phone on the table reading the text.

Christian: You haven’t forgotten our date, have you?

Oh well, I guess everything isn’t permanent. I have to go out and socialise again, insert dramatic sigh here.

Me: Nope, I was just about to get ready.

You could probably tell from the fact I haven’t showered all day, was cozied up in my bed and still in my pyjamas, that I was lying.

I had totally forgotten I had a date with Christian this Friday! How did the week run out so fast already? And why did I even agree to this in the first place.

So many questions, no answer. Groaning, I forced myself out of the comfort and warmth of my bed to my bathroom.

Taking a quick shower, I walked back into my room opening my wardrobe.

I frowned as I looked through my clothes. What the hell do you wear to a date?

I had no idea where we were going, maybe I needed to dress formal? Maybe a dress? I should have one somewhere...

What if it’s a casual date and I end up over dressing?

I’m overthinking this! It’s just a date, nothing special right?

Casual never hurt anybody, I concluded. Deciding to at least make a little effort, I decided to switch my usual hoodie and joggers for denim jeans, a white crop top and some converse.

“Something’s missing...” I stared at my reflection.

Taking the hoodie I planned on wearing earlier, I slipped it on and pulled the zipper halfway. Perfect! It’s not all the way up at least, still different from my normal look.

After brushing my hair, I put on a little make up and I was ready to go.

Taking my phone from the table, I made my way downstairs where my uncle was watching TV in the living room.

I tried to sneak past him to the door when my phone rang and I dropped it on the floor. I cursed under my breath as I bent down to pick my phone up.

“Kaylee? Where are you going?” Rick asked turning around to look at him.

“Uh...don’t you remember, every Friday Evening? The dumb thing you signed me up for.” I lied without a thought.

No way was I telling him I was going on a date. That was my business, not his.

“Oh yeah, I forgot” He said buying the lie thankfully. “It doesn’t start till four though. “

“It’s just thirty minutes, I’ll be right on time if I leave now.” I said now moving towards the door.

“I’m glad you’re putting an effort into this.” He smiled.

“Yeah, me too. I’ll be back for dinner.” I said hurriedly opening the door as I walked outside.

I soon as I closed the door, I turned to glare at Christian as he got out of his car.

“You almost got me in trouble” I hissed at him.

“Trouble?” He asked confused.

“Never mind, let’s just go.” I said getting into his car.

“You look-“
