Seven | Birthday

"Happy birthday Taehyunie. You're two years old!" I said when he woke up. I had gotten up earlier than him to be able to say it before he was waking me up like usual. I wanted to surprise him.

This was also the first birthday where he could actually talk and remember things. Although he didn't understand the concept of aging, he was happy when he saw me being happy for him.

"Happy day?" He asked me curiously while he looked at me. He was still laying down in his bed as I stood over him.

I nodded. "It's a happy day. The day when you were born two years ago." I said holding up two fingers.

"Cool?" He asked since two fingers up also was a V or peace sign when posing for photos.

"Well, yes." I laughed. " The V sign is for a cool pose, but you're two years old! You're a big boy now."

"Okay, mommy." He said. Although he was two, he still spoke in short sentences and started saying mommy instead of mama.

He still sounded like a baby though when he says mommy.

"We have the day off today because it's your birthday. I requested off today." I told him before taking him to the restroom to brush our teeth.

He held my wrist to take the toothbrush away from me. He wanted to do it by himself because he was a big boy now.

I let him brush his teeth for a little bit because asking for it back. "Can mommy make sure you did it all?" I asked him.

He nodded before handing his toothbrush to me.

"Oh, wow! You did such a good job." I said while brushing his teeth properly. When I was done, I rinsed the toothbrush. I handed him some water and he took a sip.

He leaned over a little since he was sitting in the counter already. He made some sputtering sounds while a little toothpaste residue and water came out. He had learned a little after watching Mark brush his teeth and spit out the water so many times.

"You're so amazing, Taehyunie. A really big boy now." I said before wiping his mouth with a towel. I placed him on the floor and then brushed my own teeth.

A knock on the door startled Taehyun while he was wandering around in the living room by himself. He came running back to me after being scared by the loud noise.

"It's okay." I said as I rubbed his back before checking the peephole. I opened the door when I saw Jaehyun.

"Happy birthday Taehyun!" Jaehyun said with his deep voice. He had a party hat on and two more in his hand.

Taehyun clapped his hand before pointing at the hat. "Wow." He said.

"This smaller one is for you and the bigger one is for your mommy." Jaehyun said as he handed me one.

He placed the smaller one on Taehyun. The string went underneath his chin and the pointed hat rested on his head.

Surprisingly, Taehyun wasn't bothered by the string around his head like most kids were.
