The waitress stood frozen in place once she had reached the table and realised who it was she was serving. Mew couldn't see Jen's face from behind the menu but he was sure she was none the wiser to the situation. Gulf led the orders, followed by Mew and then Jen who ordered for both herself and Moo. Another waitress had to come and pull the girl away.
"You have no idea how long it's been since I've eaten out." Jen began the conversation. Mew noticed the quarrel in her eyes as she thought of how to start the conversation.
"Not true, you guys had hot pot a week ago." Moo retaliated.
"Yeah in the back of the restaurant that we had to enter through the back door to get into that was cornered off..." Moo just shook his head in defeat.
"I can't imagine what it must be like." Mew offered a different approach to the conversation.
"C'mon, you must know. I've seen how well your other shows have did, you must be quite popular yourself." Mew had grabbed what was closest to him which just so happened to be Gulf's leg. He winced at the grip but managed to play it off before anyone noticed. Jen had researched them both while on her way to meet them; Mew was screaming inside. There was no chance of Mew getting a word out so Gulf covered for him.
"What made you want to take up acting?" For a split second, he was sure he saw Jen flinch at the question. Her mind racing for an answer, she opted for what Moo hoped she wouldn't.
"Well, funny you should ask that-"
"Look the foods here!" Moo interrupted what he was sure would've been a very interesting conversation; sarcasm included.
The four of them sat quietly eating their lunch, some chit chat here and there about the show and how excited the boys were to have her on board. During the meal a small crowd had entered near the front door, the staff at the restaurant were trying their best to keep them at bay. Gulf didn't realise until later that he was taking mental notes of the split seconds that Jen's face dropped and how quickly her face picked back up again with a wide smile. It started when the crowd had gotten bigger and the staff were standing at the door keeping them out.
"Maybe we should head out, the crowds getting too big." Moo stood up without waiting for a response and headed towards the back of the restaurant for a way out. A waiter placed the cheque on the table shortly after.
"I'm so sorry..." Jen mumbled to herself, which was meant to be louder for the boys.
"Sorry?" Mew asked, confused.
"We have to leave so early and I was having such a good time-" It wasn't the growing crowd that made her become apologetic, it was the bit that came after. The press releases, the photos plastered online with captions that were more than likely going to be jabs at the boys.
"You don't have to apologise, I'm sure this happens all the time." Mew tried to consolidate her.
"That's just it..." Jen mumbled, loud enough for Gulf to catch. Jen paid the bill, much to the boys distaste, and they left for the back of the restaurant where Moo had pulled up the car. Maybe she's not like the rest of them, Gulf thought, maybe she's different.
