Recapppppp

So last chapter Benny goes to see Anna in the hospital and she doesn't remember him. The doctor says she lost about a months worth of memory, but she should gain it back. Hannah came and Anna doesn't remember her either. Hannah tells her that they're best friends.
This is gonna be fun

Benny's POV

It's been two weeks. Two weeks of me barely talking to anyone. Two weeks of me not eating. Two weeks of me not sleeping.The sandlot is my favorite place to go but I can't even bring myself to go.

I visit Anna everyday and tell her about myself and my friends. Bertram came with me a couple times, he really knows how to make people laugh. I was happy when I was around her but when I left the hopeless pit of her not remembering our first conversation, our first laugh together, our first time meeting set back into my stomach.

I visit Anna after school and find her wearing joggers and a hoodie instead of a hospital gown.

"Anna? What's going on?"

"Hi! I'm well enough to go home now, except for my arm everything else has healed, I still have physical therapy but I can finally sleep in my own bed!" She smiles and does this little jump. I laugh and go to hug her but something stops me. I don't know what.

"Do you wanna come out to eat with us Benny?"

I freeze.

"What?" My voice cracks. Gross

"Well after I get released my mom said we can go out to eat, I'm sick of jell-o and crackers anyways. Sooooo, wanna come?"

I smile and she returns it, but.

"I don't have any money." I look down and put my hands in my pockets.

"Hey, don't worry about it. You've kept me company for the past two weeks, it's the least I could do." She smiles again. My heart is going crazy.

What's going on?

"Y-yeah su-sure." I walk into the hallway and call Emily.

"Hey um Anna's family invited me to go out to eat with them soon. Can I go?"

"Sure, I'll tell mom you're with the boys. Let me know when you're coming home, love you Benji."

"Thank you, love you too Emily." I smile and hangup the phone.

"I can go" I rock back and forth on my heels and smile at her.

"Perfect." She sits back down on her bed and I sit in the chair.

Silence. But it's comfortable silence.

"What are you looking at?"

"You." I cover my hand with me mouth. Did I really just say that out loud?

Shit.

She laughs and stares back at me. The gaze seems to last forever until she hears her moms voice.

"Mom!" She jumps up and runs over and hugs her mom. Well half hugs her, her arm is still in a sling.

"Woah, calm down you're gonna knock me over!" She laughs and hugs her back.

"Hi Benny, it's so nice to finally meet you."

"Oh um, y-you too miss."
