21 - nightmares and kisses.

Recap-

Benny and Anna have to study for finals so they're at Anna's house Benny ends up staying. They're watching a movie and she falls asleep. Benny, being the nice gentleman he is. Moves away from her because he doesn't know if she wants to lay with him still. But, Anna pulls him close and in her sleep she mutters,

"I think i love you"

I cover my hand with my mouth in shock.

She does?

No, it's a dream. She's just dreaming,

But what if she does?

What if she's dreaming about somebody else?

I sigh and stare at the ceiling again. My mind is racing with questions, do I ask her about it? Will she think I'm lying?

My eyes start to close when Anna jumps up and screams. She puts her hands in her face and starts to cry.

I slowly stand up to shut her door so nobody can hear us.

"Hey hey hey what's wrong?" I say, softly. I don't wanna wake anybody up but I want to calm her down. I hate seeing people sad. Especially her.

"Ph-Phil-phillips." She can barely get the words out. Her whole body is shaking and she's hugging her knees.

A rage of anger rushes through me and then it turns to sorrow.

I slowly lift her chin up, I can see the tears rolling down her face only by the moonlight.

Oh my god.

"I'll be right back"

I go to the bathroom and get some Kleenex's for her. I never want to feel this way or cause pain like this to anybody.

I sit behind her and hug her from behind. It feels so right. Just to be in her presence.

Anna blows her nose and slides down so her head is in my lap, she grabs my hand and holds it, tight.

Wow.

I don't really know how to calm people down in situations like these but one time I heard that girls like guys playing with their hair. So, with my free hand I start to run my fingers through her hair, being careful not to pull her hair or hurt her. I never want to hurt her.

I whisper her name a couple times and she doesn't reply, I decide to just not move this time. Even if I'm sitting up, I just want her to be comfortable. I take my hand off her head and she starts to move, I quickly put it back on and keep running my fingers through her hair.

I can't fall asleep. I want to make sure she sleeps through the night. I stare at the window until I see the sky slowly lightening.

How am I gonna manage to stay awake today?

Her mom gets up for work and comes into her room and when she sees me awake she gives me a confused look, I just shrug my shoulders at her. She smiles and closes the door.

I look at the clock.

6:56am

I really gotta pee.

I carefully get up and go to the hall bathroom so it'll be quieter.

I open her door and I'm stunned to see she's awake.

"Hey." She stretches and yawns. "Why are you up?"

"I could ask you the same question Anna."

"The room is too bright." She gets up and closes her curtains.
