First POV
With Van on the team now, we had begun coming up with ideas on how to capture Twilight's leader. Cardia and I were now pretty comfortable and well settled in at Saint's mansion, and I must say, Sissy, Cardia, and I have become close friends. I was sitting in a chair by them as Cardia kneeled down to Sissy as he ate his food. He was a sweet dog, and I enjoyed his company. Once he was done, Sissy jumped into my lap, and was showered with pets by my sister and I.
"Those three have grown close," I heard Fran say.
Lupin had gone out earlier that morning, and Van was still in his room, I'm assuming. Impey, Fran, and Saint were sitting at the table, that is until Impey got up and began walking over to Cardia and I.
"I can't even get that mutt to play with me. Hey, Sissy, look at you, boy. Quit flirting with (Y/N) already," the redhead smirked as he leaned down to the corgi in my lap.
Sissy didn't appreciate the comment, and I began to feel him growling at Impey, causing him to jump back. Cardia and I giggled a little bit as Impey began laughing nervously, not wanting to get bit.
"Relax, I was kidding. It was just a joke."
I put the back of my hand to my mouth, trying to hide my laughing while still trying to hold Sissy. Although, Impey was still able to hear it, causing him to smile at me. As Sissy calmed down, we all heard the door to the dining room open, revealing Van as he walked in. He hadn't really been talkative since he got here, and I wasn't 100% comfortable around him. He still wore a scowl on his face most of the time.
"Uh, hey, Van," Fran greeted as the gunman.
He didn't say anything, but he seemed to be looking around for something, or someone. Fran must've known what he was doing.
"Oh sorry, Lupin left earlier. I don't know when he'll be back."
Again, silence. I continued to pet Sissy with Cardia, but kept my eyes on Van. Impey stood up from his spot and spread his arms out towards the chairs with a smile on his face.
"Here, have a seat. If you want breakfast, there's plenty for you too," He offered to Van.
I set Sissy down as I stood up beside Cardia, keeping my attention on the blonde haired gunman. He crossed his arms and closed his eyes.
"Your cooking isn't to my taste," he stated bluntly.
That didn't seem to brighten the mood in the room, and Impey took offense to the comment.
"Come on, you haven't even tried it yet!" He yelled.
Van stayed silent, not seeming to care about Impey's yelling. And that's when he looked to both of us girls by the table. His gaze wasn't really a nice one either. I kept a calm expression, but I really didn't know what to say to the man.
"Good morning, Van," Cardia told him kindly.
"Yes, I hope you slept well," I added on, thankful that my sister was the first to say something.
As I expected, Van stayed silent, and turned to go sit at the end of the table away from everyone. Impey wasn't really tolerating his attitude too much, but I didn't really mind it. In my opinion, you can't force someone to like you or anything like that. As Impey somewhat scolded Van, I heard Saint laughing at the head of the table.
"I almost forgot. There was an interesting article written in the paper," he mentioned to all of us.
That was when Saint pulled out a newspaper written today. Cardia and I had made our way to the head of the table to get a better look at the picture. It was a silhouette of someone leaping off of a roof in the night's sky with a cape that resembled bat wings.
