First POV
We had made our way inside of the Cathedral with some of the soldiers from the British army. We were in two teams on either side of the hallway, hidden behind the wall. On one side, it was me with Lupin, Cardia, Impey, and Delly. The other side was Fran, Saint, Van, and the soldiers that had come with us.
"It's quiet," I heard Cardia say from beside me.
Along with everyone else, I was looking down the hall of the Cathedral. Strangely, there weren't any soldiers that we could see in front of us.
"Yes. The diversionary force has Twilight distracted. It appears that Old Man Leonhardt is good at his job," Lupin said quietly from the front of our group.
I gave Lupin a quick look for saying that about Leonhardt. But now wasn't the time to be scolding him. We had work to do, and with the signal of the soldier's hand, we got started. Lupin nodded at the soldier's signal as Fran's group ran out of their hiding spot first, and then our group followed closely behind.
As we ran down the hallway, I heard footsteps coming towards us. When I got a better view, I caught sight of Twilight soldiers charging towards us. We all stopped as the British soldiers began fighting them off. But that wasn't all, there were footsteps behind us as well. When we turned around, Twilight had barricaded us from moving forward.
"Well, I guess it's only logical they'd leave a few men behind," Lupin said as he kept his arm out in front of Cardia and I in a protective manner.
"Yeah, I kinda thought this might happen," Impey smirked.
But his smirk quickly disappeared as we all saw a flash pass by our sights quickly. That was when I realized that it was Delly fighting off the opposing side, using the kicks similar to when we met him the first time. He turned back to us with a fighting expression.
"Go ahead, I got this," the young boy declared.
Even though he had the abilities that were a bit superior to humans, there was still concern bubbling up inside of me. More Twilight soldiers had appeared out of nowhere, so I wasn't sure how much Delly could handle on his own.
"Are you insane?! There's too many of them!" Lupin yelled to Delly.
But that didn't even faze him. Instead, he kicked down another soldier before looking back at the Gentleman Thief.
"Don't you have something important you need to be doing right now? Leave these pathetic humans to me, and get going," he commanded us to do.
While I didn't want him to be fighting alone, I knew there was nothing that we could say that would change his mind. And with that, Delly began fighting more of Twilight, sending the men to the ground with every movement. He looked back at us once more and nodded, his way of saying he'd be alright.
"Best of luck. Guys, let's move," Lupin told us, finally letting off on the vampire.
I looked back to the young boy, still concerned, but I had complete faith in him.
"Delly, please be careful," I said to him quietly.
As I did so, I felt Lupin's hand on my shoulder. That was the signal that we just needed to trust him, and to get moving. I nodded slightly as I turned to run along with everyone else, hearing Delly's battle cry behind us. Finally, we made it to the center of the cathedral. This was the area where the entrance, to Father's supposed area where he wanted to meet with Cardia and I, would be.
"I thought you said you knew where the entrance was," Van told Lupin as he stood a bit away from us to keep guard.
Lupin had been knocking and pressing different areas of the wall and floor, to see if there even was an entrance. I could tell Van was getting annoyed by waiting.
