"Hello! My names Lance!"

I smiled down at Lance as my deep blood red eyes traced over his slim figure then I pushed my dark, raven hair, out of my face as I show him my toothy wide smile.

"Hello Lance! Names Dean! I'll help you settle into your classes!"

"Awesome babe!" Was his response as his attempts at flirting were hilarious.

"Flirting with little ol' me?" I ask as we walked inside thank god it was hot out there.

"Please, your the opposite of old! I'm surprised your even an instructor! You seem so young!" I hate to break it to yeah kid. But I was a little over 900 years old. Considering this is the year... 2020.

"Well I just take good care of my face with face products!" Welp I saw stars in his eyes. Just great someone gained a crush on me.

"YOU DO IT TOO!"

-A few days later-

I was walking through the halls with my friend Shiro and my teammate Matt. We were discussing about our Rookies when Shiro brought up the troubles his had... Keith was his name.

"Shiro... let me talk to him. Once he sees that someone understands him, he won't feel so alone anymore." What I said also impacted me. But I knew no one knew my pain. But living 900 years and watching everyone you've met die. You learn to bury those emotions and spend what time you have with them as happy moments. For I can think of that when I go to their funeral.

"You... understand?"

"Yeah this is the first time your opening up to us about your life!" Matt continued as I looked unamused.

"Either let me go see him or I'll leave right here and now."

-A few Moments Later-

As I walk alone to the headmasters office I find the little trouble maker sitting outside with a resting bitch face.

"Your keith aren't you?" He looked up and flared at me.

"And your my babysitter?"

I only let out a soft 'hmmm' as I roll my eyes before sitting down next to him.

"You could say that, although I do believe you are quiet old enough to be without a babysitter." I exclaim as he rolls his eyes still with his arms crossed as I star at his violet eyes and growing black mullet.

"If you don't mind my existence, I'm going to touch your mullet."

"What-" he didn't get to answer as I slung my arm over his shoulder and started running my hands through his hair.

He gulped before uncrossing his arms, a sign of opening up just a little bit. As he started up at me as I smiled kindly at him as he looks over my features.

"Now... mind telling me why your so upset?" I say as I brush out his tangled hair gently as he looked down in thought.

"I got in trouble again... Shiros not gunna like it."

"Shiro? Oh he's my friend! I can treat him to a smoothly to get him off your back for yeah if that's what your worried about."

He looked warily at me.

"Why? Why would you do that for me?"
He shoved my hand away, but I could tell he didn't want to.

"Am I supposed to not do that for a follow comrade?"

"Well yeah..." he mumbles before he started opening up a bit more.

"Im the kid who doesn't have parents, I'm the kid with emotion issues. Everyone hates me except Shiro.. SO WHY DONT YOU HATE ME TOO!" He yelled at me as he stood up from the chair and glared confused at me.

I only smiled as I 'shhh'd him.

"I don't hate you... why would I hate a fellow orphan?" This cause him to gasp as his eyes opened before he sat back down a little closer to me this time.

"You... don't have parents either?" I smile as I said 'nope'

"But... everyone loves you, your the legendary Dean that can make anything and everything and you also exceed all the tests including fighter pilots! Your the best the Garrison has! Why do so many people love you and not me!" I smiled sadly as I returned my hand which he left alone as I gently put the young kids head on my shoulder as he fought past tears.

"Shhhh... shhhhh, it's ok. I worked hard to prove to everyone that I can be someone. That and I am really friendly and pretty too." That caused the both of us to giggle a little bit.

"You know, not everyone hates you. I'm pretty sure headmaster secretly adores you." This caused him to gasp and sit up facing me letting my hand that was resting on his head fall.

"Yep! I see that look he has towards you."

"No way!" He said as we laughed.

"Come on let me show you something." I say as he nodded excited to where we are going as I lead him to the top of the facility. And sat down of the roof only to lay down and gaze upon the stars. Keith followed what I did and stared up and the stars as well.

"That is my dream. To be in the stars so far away. And to pet nice aliens." This caused us to giggle.

"Yeah... that's a pretty cool dream." He said sleepily.

My happy smile faded a little knowing people were growing older and more suspicious that I was not. I knew I had to leave soon.

"If I fail, if anything happens to me. I want you to carry my dream ok?" I say to Keith as we both sat up staring at each other as I gave him a sad smile and he gave me a look of worry.

"What's wrong? Why would you fail?"

"If." He smiled, hesitantly, but nonetheless he smiled as we star gazed for a while longer until I heard his soft snores. I smiled as I picked him up gently, bridal style as I took him to his and Shiros room. On Shiros request they both got a dorm room together. As I take the keys from my pockets and open the door while Keith's head unconsciously snuggles into my neck. I smile as I close and lock the door and slowly walk in to see Shiro asleep and on the other side of the room, was an untamed bed as I sighed before placing Keith down, fixing the bed, then tucking him in as I was about to leave I heard a faint.
'No..don't...go'

I smile sadly. I hated seeing young children be so desperate for safety and comfort. I slowly climbed into his bed as I was between the wall and him as he curled into me as I ran my hands through his hair.

I don't need to sleep. But I do it for energy sense I spent my time with Keith instead of going hunting.

I smile sadly as I fall asleep in a familiar comfort I had forgotten long ago.
