Learning from the mistakes of the past doesn't make me free from it.

Noah woke up to the sound of glass crashing on the floor downstairs. She quickly turned her lamp on and grabbed her phone by instinct, then she put her sneakers on and slowly tiptoed downstairs, taking deep breaths as she investigated what was going on.
When she reached the ground, she saw that the kitchen lights were on. She quietly walked to the kitchen and saw that the back door's glass pane was still intact, relieving her a little. When she looked at the ground, however, she saw her grandfather lying frozen with glass shards right next to him.
"Grandpa?" Noah said as she went to the floor, trying to shake him awake after lifting his arm to his body to keep it away from the broken glass. When he wasn't responding at all, she checked for a pulse and found a weak one. She thought of calling the emergency number, but she didn't know what the correct one was, for she was in another country, after all.
Without any second thought, she grabbed both the car keys and the house keys, then she went outside and opened the passenger's door of the car. She ran back inside and lifted her grandfather's frail body to the car, making sure that he was secure before locking the house and running to the driver's seat, where she quickly turned the engine on. She put the car in first gear before slamming on the gas, shifting to a higher gear as she sped up.
Once they were down the hill, Noah pulled over for a second to look for where the hospital is, and after getting the directions, she sped off again, going way beyond the speed limit while trying to follow as much traffic rules as she could.
When they got to the hospital, she smoothly parked the car in the space nearest to the doors, then she climbed out and called for help in the emergency room. The nurses followed her to the car with a stretcher, then they placed her grandfather on it as she turned the engine off.
She watched as they started to check on his vital signs, and after locking the car, she followed the nurses to wherever they went, until she got to the point where she wasn't allowed. She burst into tears as she walked away to the hospital's lounge, hoping that there's signal so that she can call Brad and tell him what happened.
"Hello?" Brad said from the other line. Although she knew that she just woke him up, seeing that it's 1 in the morning, she was grateful that he answered her call.
"Brad? Can you come here to the hospital, please?" Noah attempted to say in between sobs, then she heard shuffling from the other line.
"Why? What happened?" Brad asked, then Noah wiped her tears as she took a deep breath to calm down.
"It's Grandpa. He had a weak pulse-" Noah tried to explain, but her tears stopped her from saying anything. Everything was shockingly coming at her, and she didn't know how to cope up.
"Okay. I'm on my way. I'll meet you at the hospital lounge?" Brad said, then Noah whispered a thank you before ending the call. She then started to sob to herself, afraid that what happened will lead to something worse.
Within five minutes, Brad was already at the lounge doors, then he called Noah's name out. She then turned and looked at him, then he immediately ran towards her. He quickly sat down beside her and pulled her in a hug, allowing her to sob a little more.
"Everything will be fine, okay? He's in safe hands. You did a good job," Brad said as he rubbed her back in comfort, then Noah wiped her tears away and tried to remove the congestion in her nose.
"I'm sorry to disturb you both, but I'm here to gather information from the patient that she brought here," the receptionist said to them, then Brad looked at her with a small smile on his face.
