As you sleep with a smile on your face,
I watch you silently with an embrace,
Wondering if in your dreams you see,
A better place or someone else, but not me.

Do you dream of my face, I ponder,
Or someone else you hold dearer and fonder,
You toss and turn, smile widening in delight,
Whispering a name that's not mine, in the night.

My heart sinks and I'm left in shock,
As you say a name that's not in my flock,
You're dreaming of another all this while,
Leaving me alone, feeling exiled.

But you sleep on like a baby,
And I retreat to the other room, maybe,
The next morning, you kiss me on the cheek,
But I turn my head away, feeling weak.

I can't bring myself to ask about your dream,
Afraid of the answers, it may seem,
I don't want to start a fight or ignite,
The flames of jealousy and spite.
