The night was still,
No clouds passing by,
And then I saw a star, It was dim, but not too far,
Then it began to shine so bright,
And memories flooded my mind that night,
I felt a sudden urge to cry,
As questions filled my head, oh why?
Why did you choose the dark of night,
Instead of staying for the sunrise light?
Why did you choose the thunder's roar,
Instead of walking with me through the downpour?
Why did you choose the raging sea,
Instead of the shore where we could be,
Sitting together, with me playing a song,
Why did you choose to leave me all alone?
As I gazed upon that lonely star,
The questions lingered, from afar,
Maybe you chose the dark because you're tired,
Of holding on to my shadow and being mired.
Maybe you chose the thunder to bring a storm,
To wrench my life and take it by the horn,
Maybe you chose the sea for its wild waves,
To drown me deep in its murky graves.
But then I thought, as the star shone bright,
Maybe you're like this lonely light,
Existing only to bring me down,
To rob me of my joy and make me frown.
But I'll be like this star, so strong and bright,
Extending my dazzling shine with all my might,
Leaving you with regret, for not holding me tight,
