Charles Smith. Today he was turning 27! But he thought his family didn't know about his birthday because he's never told them.
It hurt to know that all his siblings get party's and presents and love in this day, but for him there is nothing. Today Alice asked him to come for dinner as they had a big announcement.
So after work he was heading to his family's house.

"Go get up we have to go get the cake!" Alice says shaking him awake.
"Uhh no." He says turning his head into the pillow.
"Yes. It's Charles first birthday with us and it will be awesome!" She says and do knows by her tone this is very serious so he gets up.
This day was very special for the whole family but especially Alice, she was there the day he was born and never in a million years thought she would be celebrating his birthday. But they found their way to each other and she's so glad she is able to.
They bought him presents, and are getting a cake, doing everything he loves to do. But Alice got a little something else, Well she wrote him something special that she has only done for him.
They made their way to the store and then picked up some last minute decor.

"Betty! Jughead! Jellybean!" She shouts as they walk in.
"What?" They all ask.
"Help me decorate." She says and they all move to grab some balloons.
"Ooh it looks so good." Alice says as she stands next to Fp and he wraps his arm around her kissing her head.
"You did amazing baby, he's going to love it." Fp says to Alice.
It's now 3 hours till Charles comes and Alice starts to make dinner. She decided to make spaghetti for him and garlic bread with salad.
She really hoped Charles would like it.

"You look so good" Fp says coming from behind.
"I'm so nervous." She says fixing her blouse for the 10th time.
"He's going to love it Al." He says and hugs her from behind.
"Thanks." She says and moves to kiss him.
They walk down stairs and wait for Charles to get there.
When he walks in everyone is hiding and he sees the sign that says happy birthday and the dinner on the table he sees the presents and starts to tear up.
"Guys?" He says
"SURPRISE!!" Everyone says jumping up from behind.
Charles looks at all of them amazed and Alice starts to walk to him and gives him a big hug.
"I love you so much baby boy. Happy birthday." She whispers in his ear and he tucks his head into her neck.
They release and she kisses his check. Then go comes up and goes to hug him.

They have dinner and open the presents, it then Alice asks to see Charles privately. They go to her room.
"What's up?" He asks sitting on the bed.
She walks to her dresser and pulls out an envelope.
"Here read this." She says and smiles at him then sits beside him on the bed.
He opens it up and starts to read.
Dear Charles,
My baby boy your 27, and 27 years ago I had my first baby. You made me a mom that day. I wish I was there from the beginning, but I'm so glad I am here now.
I remember holding you for the first time and being in love with you, your beautiful face you were so peaceful and I begged them not to take you. I love you so much.
I can't wait to see what the future holds for you. You are my very first love( don't tell your father).
For the past 27 years I would on this day, celebrate your birthday. I cried and wished you were here with me, but I knew I would find you one day.
I hope you had an amazing birthday. I love you so so much my sweet and caring baby boy.

When Charles finishes her wipes his tears and moves to face Alice.
"When did you do this?" He asks
"I've been working on it for the past week. I hope you like it I'm sos sorry for giving you up. Ever since that day I regretted it." She says moving her hand to his face.
"I love you too mom." He says and hugs her so tightly never wanting to let go.
