Deeper Than Faces

Chapter 3

    Charles suddenly started laughing and holding his stomach, we both stared at him wondering why he was laughing so hard, I am sure it's not what he was saying, but what could it be.

    I looked around and immediately I saw Pete I suddenly understood the cause of his laughter, I couldn't hold myself but I tried as much as I could, Lucy still didn't know what made us laugh because she sat facing us and backing Pete's direction. Pete was a 34 years old guy, he still stays in the same house with his parents, weird right, but it's not entirely his fault, he suffers from schizophrenia which comes in flashes, so today his OK tomorrow he's not and only his mum could take care of him in this condition.
He really liked Lucy and would always talk to her about love and says he would love to marry her, but that wasn't the issue now, the main cause of the laugh was the fact that he was putting on a Jean Jack, native panties, a face cap and school sandals, he was well known for his poor dress sense and that was one of the things Lucy disliked about him.

    As soon as he saw us, Charles signalled that he come join us, he was so happy and walked quickly so he could meet Lucy before she would probably stand up to leave, she turned to see who Charles was waving and as soon as she set her eyes on him "oh goodness gracious " she exclaimed as she used her hand to cover her face and laid on the table, Charles was still laughing like a mad person and I kept smiling as I thought of what could happen next.

Pete was with us now, and of all places to sit he choose to sit next to Lucy, we had suddenly become invisible and all he could see now was Lucy, Charles held and dragged me off the table saying we should give them a little time together knowing fully well that Lucy would hate the idea, but I went along with it cause it was actually very hilarious seeing the both of them.

Lucy was soo angry because of what we had done, but she had no choice but to listen to Pete as the only way she could get out of were she sat was if only Pete would make way for her to pass, but that wouldn't be happening soon until he is done confessing his love for her.

     We sat in the car waiting for Lucy and her boo to be through, we listened to the radio Wazobia fm, and all the morning shows they had on, and at 10am, 2hours since we left Lucy, we then saw her walk out angrily and Pete stood at the door behind her waving and smiling at her, obviously he had had the best two hours of his life and from the way he smiled and waved one would know he wasn't totally alright.
Lucy walked down and passed were our car was, she didn't even speak to us, she was so upset, she went straight to the road were she could get a tricycle and go her separate way, I knew we were in for great apology, i had already started apologizing but she paid deaf ears to me, meanwhile Charles sat in the car laughing out loud just so Lucy could hear him and be pained.

I thought she was joking and would change her mind, but she seriously took her ride and left us there.
I went back to Charles and started the car so we could go back home, and Charles toned up the volume to the radio, nodding and singing along with the song which was being played on air.
