Alex's POV
The time read 3:35pm, I opened my wardrobe and searched for a change of clothes as I placed a call to Charles's cell, two miss calls now and still no answer, I am so sure he wouldn't go to Lucy's, but nevertheless I still have to go.
I slipped on a new shirt and wore a soft perfume to smell nice, threw some mint into my mouth for fresh breadth, I wore my glass and brushed the new shoots of hair growing beneath my jaw, with the way I was preparing, one would think I was going to see my girlfriend.I left my room and went downstairs where I saw my dad sitting on his favorite sit, directly in front of the TV, I still don't understand why he loves sitting that way, he held a bowl of garri in his hands and drank like it was his lunch, which I knew it was, we both didn't really eat much and since my mum was no more, I don't think there will be lots of cooking in this house.
"where you leaving me to this time" he asked raising an eye brow, the way I had dressed and the wonderful smell I emitted made my outing look suspicious, "am heading to Lucy's place" I answered freely,
but then I noticed his sudden interest in the gist, as soon as he heard Lucy's name, he kept his bowl of garri on the stool right next to him and sat back, relaxing fully on his seat for more details,
" ohh common dad, it's Lucy, my friend!!!....she lives couple of buildings away", I knew from the way he acted he was about start....
" of course son, I know who Lucy is, what I want to know is if you want to ask her out again "....."No dad, we just friends and I don't think......wait!! Did you say 'again'? " I asked looking confused,
yes I had once asked Lucy out and it didn't work, but that was like two years ago, and only two people knew about it, Lucy herself and my mum,
I am so sure Lucy didn't tell my dad about it which means my mum had told him, she had promised me she wouldn't tell him but they never keep secrets from themselves, do they?I stood there and didn't even know what to tell my dad, I still liked Lucy but She had made it clear to me when I made the move that she wasn't ready for any relationship and wanted us to be just friends, and since then we've been cool and good friends everything has been nice and I wouldn't want anything to ruin our friendship, not even my feelings for her.
I shrugged off the thoughts I was having and made my way for the door to leave as my dad turned his attention back to the show he was watching on TV,
I opened my WhatsApp to see if Lucy had replied my text, she had read it but still no reply, she must be really mad at me.
I rushed to a near by store and bought her favourite chips, if there was one thing I know about Lucy, it was her inability to resist that bag of chips.I got to her house and it looks to me she was home, I could hear her and Lindy laughing over whatever they were watching on TV.
I pressed the door bell and waited for who ever would come answer, and then Lucy did,
Immediately I saw her, all what I had planned on saying suddenly vanished from my head, I looked up and down, left and right, hoping that I could find words, but nothing came, should I just say I'm sorry?, nah, that's too linear, I needed something stronger and more genuine but nothing was coming,
She waited and even adjusted the way she stood, just so I could say something, but still yet nothing came,
I was so messed and since nothing was coming I just stretched out my hand to give her the bag of chips I had bought for her and to my greatest surprise she smiled and rushed into me with a tight warm hug....Omg!!
Can chips really do that?? 😂😂
