Part 18

Coras POV. 

i woke up to thomas' screams, it was morning acording to the runners watches, i stood up and felt dizzy, i stumbled backwards hitting the wall as i put my hands on the wall to get a grip, soon the dizziness past and replaced me with a drunk feeling. i fixed my clothes and held on to the wall until i got outside. 

i looked around the Glade to see some boys just sitting talking, just giving up, i walked sideways a bit before i slid down the wall of the homestead, i was humming something as i picked the flowers around me and made a chain. soon Chuck sat down Next to me...

"whats going on chucky" i said weirdly bored of the current situation, i turned to him lifting the chain so i could continue it.

"Cora, what happens when we get out...what then?" Chuck never really talked about deep stuff with me, it was normally tommy who he tells his secrets with, like the conversation when tommy was in jail and chuck left crying.

"well chucky, were free, free to go home and go back to our families...forget all about this piece of klunk of a maze." i said connecting both ends of the chain, i placed it in chucks hair, smiling at him as he sat there just being chuck i guess.

Thomas' screams burst into the air again causing more fear in me and chuck than the grievers hearing our friend in pain screaming. i relaxed a bit trying to block it out, i reached out for chucks hand to stop mine from shaking.

"how long does the changing last for chuck?" i mumbled squeezing Chucks hand, he squeezed back before mumbling "a couple of days"  i nodded before just sitting there with chuck for a couple of minutes in silence.

"Cora...are you and Newt going to start a family once your out of the maze?" Chuck asked so innoccently so i just nodded before smiling, looking down thinking about the future, growing old with Newt.

"Do you want a family Chuck?" i leaned over and asked even though he is like 13 or 12 , he shrugged before he looked up at they grey sky.

"there aren't any other girls here except you and Teresa. plus we all Know teresa like tommy, Also you and Newt are eating each others face off every second you spend together...plus we dont even know if were going to be taken tonight" i punched him in the shoulder at the last part causing him to look at me while rubbing his arm.

"So negative! plus thats not true, me and Newt dont eat each others faces off! see!" i leaned over to chuck and kissed his cheek he pushed me away before sitting up straight with a face full of disgust. i laughed, making faces of digust at chuck.

"your going to love that in some years, you'll regret that face of disgust" i smirked while he just mocked me with his hands, pointing and making chatting hands. i started laughing watching him before messing his hair up making the flower chain fall off his head.

he picked it up and placed it on my head before he got up and left, i smiled and called out to him...

"was it something i did? or say maybe?" he laughed before walking over to some boys i didnt really know personally, i sat there pulling out the grass until Newt and Alby came out of the homestead discussing something. 

i jumped up and felt dizzy for a second before it vanished, i ignored it and walked over to the two boys they both looked at me before turning my back finishing whatever they were talking about, they both turned different ways Newt towards me and Alby to the doors, looking over at me glaring a bit.

"what was that all about?" i asked smiling looking over at Chuck seeing his little hands pretending to kiss each others face off, i assume that it was meant to be me and Newt. i smirked before turning back to Newt whos eyes were flickering to my lip. i pulled away scratching the back of my neck.

"Uh it was just about the plan to get out..." Newt looked awkward, my god i just rejected a kiss from him, im probably the worst girlfriend ever. i smiled at him before taking his hand and going into the homestead with him.

i kissed his lips quickly before resting my head on his shoulder." chuck was telling me before how we are always kissing when we see each other so i was just trying to prove him wrong...i love you Newtie" he smirked before softly punching me in the shoulder.

"sorry" i smirked and he nodded before we just sat on the floor talking about useless topics, we were saying random things and imagining food that wasnt Frypans. we were laughing for hours until chuck came in making kissy faces, Newt chased him up the stairs causing me to go into a fit of laughter.

Next moment chuck yelled something and ran downstairs asking me where teresa was, i pointed out to the chair that was near the forest, Newt ran down stairs smiling at me. i smiled back before he helped me up.

"newt ive been so dizzy lately, well since this morning" i laughed and hugged him, he stroked my hair.

"lack of sleep love, i felt dizzy all morning too" he mumbled as he kissed my hair, i grabbed a fist full of Newts shirt.

"it'd be easier to sleep knowing you were safe huh?" Newt then spoke out as he moved to lean his chin on my head.

"i supposed that does play a part, also hearing screams of boys every night, its haunting" i yawned out the last part as Newt chuckled.

"your adorable" he spoke and i smiled leaning up to kiss him, he stared at me in the eyes before kissing my eye lids forcing me to shut them.

"sleep for a while love, ill wake you up when the runners are back. also tommy is awake...we'll see him tomorrow" i nodded as we slid down behind the stairs, i curled up next to Newt huddling under his arm.

"tomorrow we escape from wicked....i promise i wont let anything happen to you on the way out" i heard Newt say as i slowly drifted off.
