Chapter 40

I was worrying about Edward, he came out the office looking sick, I wasn't sure what he was looking at in there, but I decided to leave him be...he would come to me if he needed to talk...then I'd listen.

So I decided to carry on doing what I was doing before he turned up, which wasn't much really considering I did all the scrubbing down yesterday. I just had to re-stock the drinks and make sure we weren't running low on anything. I put all the chairs on top of the tables and gave it a quick sweep, it was pretty clean...but it couldn't hurt could it?

Walking through with the broom in hand, I was trying to think of a way to drum up more business, you know to bring more people in. We had the live band on opening night, that went down well...so I thought maybe we could try karaoke. I could get some flyers made up...with Alice's help of course, maybe to it next weekend. We needed to have something fun to take our minds off what's been going on the last few weeks...just let loose for a night and let everyone enjoy themselves...have a fucking break.

Yeah, I was gonna do that shit I thought as I pulled out my phone to call Alice

"I had a feeling you were gonna call me" She said, yeah..hello to you too I thought sarcastically.

"What have I told you about your feelings...keep em to yourself...I will not visit you in the fucking nut house" I said with a laugh.

"Whatever Bella...what do you want?" She huffed, I knew she wasn't pissed, this has been a running joke of ours for years now.

"Well, there was a reason I was calling actually" I said with a smile.

"There always is." She said...I wasn't sure how to take that, did she only think I called when I wanted something?

"Er...I thought maybe you'd like to help me plan a Karaoke night at the bar...for next weekend?" I said quietly. I wasn't sure it was a good idea now..maybe she didn't wanna help.

"Ohh...that will be so much fun" She all but sang into the phone...I could tell she was dancing around like an idiot, I let out a sigh...maybe she was joking and didn't mean it like I thought?

"Yeah, I wanted to do something...you know that we can all do together, have a night off from all the shit that's been happening over the last few weeks and let loose...just have a break you know?" I said, it sounded like a good Idea in my head...we all needed to think of something else for a change...forget for just one night.

"I know what you mean Bella, It's a good idea..what you got in mind?" She asked.

"I'll call around and see if I can book someone first, then I thought we could make up some flyers...spread the word a bit...try and bring more people in?" I said like a question...It can't be that hard..right?

"That sounds good, I'll work on the flyers cos...well your shit at it" She said with a laugh.

"I could take offence to that Alice...but I'm gonna take the high road and let it fucking go" I said with a smile. We both knew I was shit at the sort stuff, that was Alice's area. "I don't think I'll work that night...I'll just give em a hand when they get backed up" I said, I wanted to enjoy myself too...for once.

"Oh, Bella...you gonna come out and play?" She said getting all excited, I could actually hear clapping in the background.

"I may let my hair down for one night" I said with a laugh, I was getting excited too now. It wasn't often I let everything go and have fun..when I did...well let's just say...watch out Seattle.

"Yess, You know what this means?...you have to sing Bella" She screamed into the phone.

"Yeah, well maybe after a few drinks" Maybe I could get really drunk so I couldn't stand...then I also couldn't sing. I know what people are like at Karaoke, I do it myself...I laugh at every fucker that can't sing..I don't fancy getting laughed at.
