10. MyraThe board hangs and Annabelle's eyes widened, there was no way she got fourth she thought. She only stared ahead as the people around her congratulated her, fourth was an amazing achievement.
However, Annabelle couldn't help but feel sorry for the lower ranking initiates, unless the Dauntless-Born completely failed their stage one (which Annabelle incredibly doubted), they were factionless and that included Al.
Annabelle pays no mind when Molly begins to yell about her rank and the fact Christina was above her, she only looks over at Peter, anxious for his reaction to second place. There was no way he would be satisfied, this was Peter after all, however Annabelle furrowed her eyebrows when he didn't complain, when he had no outward reaction at all.
Peter made his way to his bunk and sat down, upon doing so he glanced at Annabelle, who still stared right at him. It was as if he hadn't even noticed her and he began to untie his shoes and lean back on his bed.
Annabelle's gaze was torn away from Peter's figure as a hand clapped her on her back, "Come on, number four, we're going celebrate," Will said, pulling her arm and leading her in the direction of Christina and Tris who weren't that far in front of them.
"Is Al not coming?" Will asked Christina, who Annabelle gathered had asked him.
"I don't think he's in the mood," She replied, a solemn look on her face as she glanced over to him where he was getting ready for bed.
"We don't know anything yet, he could be fine," Annabelle said, trying not only to reassure her friends but herself. "He could be safe." The three looked to her with small nods, however no one said anything in response not wanting to ruin the hopeful mood.

That night a loud scream woke the transfers from their sleep, Annabelle jolted up her eyes trying their best to adjust to the darkness of the room, trying their best to decipher what was going on. Despite this the ex-Abnegation pulled off her blankets and got out of her bed, "Turn on the lights," She yelled as she did so, still not being able to see around the room.
The scream echoed through Annabelle's ears as she tried to gather her surroundings before the lights suddenly came on. The girl audibly gasped as she saw Edward writhing around on the floor his hands covered in blood as they clutched his eye. More screams were heard and Annabelle even thought she heard someone throw up, upon the sight of Edward.
Tris who was beside Annabelle rushed to Edwards side, crouching in the blood next to him. She whispered in quiet tone to him, trying desperately to calm him down, to persuade him that the doctor should take the knife out no matter how much it hurt. Annabelle couldn't help but look at the girl in awe, she couldn't help but hear her mothers voice in Tris, she couldn't help but see the Abnegation shining through.
Annabelle scans the room as Tris continues to console Edward, hoping anyone would be reacting in a way that would tell her who did this. As she looked over everyone she noticed two particular people not in the room: Peter and Drew. Annabelle sighed, she knew Peter wouldn't have been happy with second place, she should've suspected him from the beginning. However Annabelle couldn't help but want to see the best in Peter, after all they got along most of the time.
When the nurses arrived and helped Edward, Tris stepped back to her original spot next to Annabelle, who grabs her arm and pulls her closer.
"Drew and Peter aren't here," She whispered, not really wanting anyone but Tris to hear at that moment, she didn't really have a reason.
Tris looked at Annabelle with concern and worry before scanning the room like Annabelle had done prior. The blonde sighed looking back to Annabelle, her expression now hard, "Of course not,"
Annabelle sighed at the annoyance in her tone, however she couldn't blame Tris, after all everyone probably suspected Peter at this point, he wasn't known to be the nicest of the bunch.
"Go wash yourself," Annabelle said, lightly pushing Tris towards the bathrooms, "I'll get you a change of clothes,"
They both did just that and as Tris washed her hands, Annabelle and Christina stood by her. "You know who did that right?" Christina asked, looking between the two other girls.
"Yeah,"
"Should we tell someone?" Christina asked,
"You really think the Dauntless will do anything?" Tris said, "After they hung you over the chasm? After they made us beat each other unconscious?"
"I think Four would do something," Annabelle said, after Christina's silence, she knew he would, he wasn't like Eric and the other Dauntless leaders.
"There's still no point," Tris said, "For all we know, Eric would reward Peter,"
This made Annabelle stay silent and nod, she knew Tris was right, even if they told Tobias, he wouldn't be in control of what happened to Peter, Eric would.
After that Annabelle goes back to bed, she offered to help Tris clean up Edwards blood but she declined, wanting, for whatever reason, to do it herself.
Annabelle didn't get much sleep that night; no one did.

They had the next day off, and Annabelle hated it, she needed a distraction, from her thoughts, her memories, her everything. She knew who would be her best distraction so decided to go and seek him out, starting with the cafeteria.
"Anna darling, you're here," Uriah sang as she sat down next to him, giving her the widest smile. She only sent a small one in return. "You look..."
"Like hell I bet," She replied, laughing lightly through her nose.
"What happened?" Uriah asked, "I heard there was a commotion,"
"Edward got stabbed last night," Annabelle began being cut off by a loud oooh, "in the eye," Another oooh, this time longer and louder. It wasn't funny but Annabelle couldn't help but laugh at the boy.
"I don't want to think about it though, you're supposed to be my distraction," She added, a smile still on her face, letting him know she wasn't entirely serious.
"Do you know who did it?" A glare. "Nevermind, you don't want to think about it,"

When Annabelle made her way to the dormitory later that day, she didn't expect the see both Edward's and Myra's beds stripped clean.
"What's going on?" She asked Al who was sat on his bunk, as she pointed to the two beds.
"They quit Dauntless," He replied, "Myra went with Edward because she couldn't be here without him, she was going to get cut anyway,"
"Good that it wasn't you," Annabelle said, causing Al to nod in agreement, thanks to Edward's departure he was safe.
"Two Dauntless born got cut as well," Al added, informing Anna.
Annabelle nodded looking at the blackboard that had their ranks on, Edwards and Myra's names had been crossed out and everyone's ranks had changed.
