chapter 14: stay by my side

Nayeon's POV

Ever since dad passed away, the house got quiet. Mom and I didn't talk at all. I even attempted to talk to her but I know she wasn't in the mood to talk. So I just always bring her food in her room and she eats them thankfully. But she didn't said a word ever her husband died.

I bid goodbye to my mom and went to school.

When I arrived, it was still early. I went to the usual place I go everyday.

Today, when I went to the rabbit hole, I saw the bunnies all cuddled to each other while in a deep slumber.

I smiled. "You guys sure love each other."

I squatted and just stare at the bunnies.

While looking at them, I remembered my parents. They are like this before, but soon though, they just started arguing from nowhere until it became an everyday noise to me.

I never thought that this is what they'll end up with.

I'm sure mom misses dad. And so do I.

"Hey Nayeon." I didn't even noticed that Jungkook was already squatted beside me.

I faked a smile. "Hey."

He sighed. "You must think I'm oblivious Nayeon." I turned to him.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"You are trying to be strong. I've seen that face before, trust me. I know you need someone to comfort you." He replied.

I smiled then looked at the sky. Looks like I can't fool him anymore.....

"I always have been." I said trying to hold back my tears.

I just felt warmth on my hand. I looked down to see that Jungkook is holding it.

"You can share some of your thoughts to me." He said smiling.

I chuckled. "Well.... All my life, I have been pretending that I am the mist luckiest girl in the world. But the truth is, I'm the exact opposite." I looked down to the ground.

"Everyday, my parents argue. It became an everyday noise to me." I said my eyes started to water.

"Actually, my dad died just yesterday. That's why I wasn't able to watch you guys." I said.

He was just quiet, listening and holding my hand to assure me he is here for me.

"I'm so sorry for your loss." He said.

I looked at him and smiled. "Its alright."

"I hope there's something I can do to comfort you." He said.

I breathed. Then I leaned my head on his shoulder. 

"There's one thing."

"What is it?"

"Stay by my side."
