Baekhyun was walking at a slow pace to enjoy the night’s breeze on his skin. The night was cold and dark, the streetlights fighting against the darkness but there weren’t enough of them to light up the world. More than often shadows were masking him, his dark clothes making him one with the night.

Looking up to the sky a faint smile ghosted on his lips. He was pleased to be unable to see the stars and the full moon as he was approaching a brighter and livelier part of the city. He had never been a fan of the countryside and its deep sky painted with bright stars. He rather liked the city’s artificial light.

Stepping into the noisy street he halted, taking his time to observe the scenery. Hongdae was one of Seoul’s most famous area, especially for its night life. The young generation claimed the neighbourhood as their playground where they could be as crazy and careless as they wanted while having the time of their life’s. The opposite of his usually quieter and sober way of life. But tonight after a long day of work and a stressful week he chose to be wild and went where the actual fun was.

It was strange for someone like him to seek being surrounded by a crowd full of drunk young adults. Far from the nightclubs he was more of a « drink a beer in a peaceful pub » type of guy, watching old men yell at the TV broadcasting sports match. He valued a lot his alone time, enjoying his life devoid of human interaction. He tried socializing as little as possible, only talking with people during work hours.

Tonight was different. Working at a dojo, Baekhyun spent his days teaching others how to fight. He always thought it was his way of helping them, nobody should be defenceless against the shitty world they were living in. But today he had failed.

Today, one of his student, a young college girl was assaulted. He gritted his teeth as he remembered how the girl’s mother came up to him and told the story. Each tear on the woman’s face appeared as punches for him. He failed as a teacher, he failed helping that girl protecting herself.

Reasonably it wasn’t his fault, he couldn’t fight for every single one of his students. But the guilt had invaded his mind, making him angrier than he should have been. He needed to clear his head, to forget everything for a night. He knew how to do it and that was why he was in Hongdae.

He saw the place he was looking for. A hand going through his grey hair, messing them more he walked confidently to the entrance of the famous club, glancing at the waiting line. The buff bouncer addressed him with a nod and let him in. For once socializing seemed useful, as the man was previously Baekhyun’s student.

Loud music and a huge crowd were waiting for him inside, the strong neon lights were dancing randomly on the sea of bodies. The air was heavy and hot making a sharp contrast with the cold air of the night. While making his way to the bar, he caught both male and female checking him out. A smirk found its way on his plump lips, fully aware of how handsome he was after having received compliments for most of his life.
