12. 𝙐𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣

"Clingy Alpha" mumbled Baekhyun under his breath when he looked at his phone ringing on the table.

It was Friday, he was eating lunch in his usual café. Since Tuesday's night their relationship was a little bit better, they were acting now more like friends than lovers but it was best for them. Chanyeol put a lot of effort into it, trying to learn as much as he could on Baekhyun.

They met on Wednesday's practice and Chanyeol teased Baekhyun with Minseok's help. On Thursday he came to Baekhyun's workplace so they could have lunch together. He also texted the older at least once a day.

Their conversations only consisted on telling their day to each other and small things about themselves. For instance Chanyeol learnt the hard way to never steal food that was on Baekhyun's plate, as he got a powerful kick in his shin under the table.

On the other side, Baekhyun was surprised to learn Chanyeol's daily workout. The younger was really serious about his training as he was the future leader of his pack when his father would retire.

Baekhyun was slightly impressed that Chanyeol was studying hard pack's laws and relations with others packs and rogues. They spent their whole lunch talking about that and Baekhyun took a genuine interest in that aspect of Chanyeol's life, which seemed to please the younger.

Only three days and they were already on the right path, even if they still had a long way to go.

He sighed and with a small smile he answered the call.

"Yes ?"

"Hi Baekhyun" greeted Chanyeol and Baekhyun could almost see the smile Chanyeol's must had on his face.

"What do you want Chanyeol?"

"Do I need a reason to call my lovely mate ?"

Baekhyun cringed at the sweet name and he heard Chanyeol chuckle. He knew the younger was calling him like that on purpose because one thing he told Chanyeol was to never call him by a cringy name.

"You sent me a text this morning, we've seen each other yesterday and we'll meet this afternoon for the practice so yeah you must have a reason. That or you're really a clingy as fuck wolf".

Baekhyun looked up when another cup of coffee appeared in front of him and he saw Suho looking at him with a smile. Baekhyun thanked him with a nod and frowned when the older walked away. Why Suho was being kind with him ? He was Minseok's friend but not Baekhyun's.

"You always find a way to ruin the romantic mood I try to set up" grunted Chanyeol.

"Well you always piss me off with your teasing so it's only fair." Replied Baekhyun, sipping on his coffee.

"I'm screwed" Chanyeol said bluntly.

Baekhyun frowned and straightened himself on his chair, his attention now fully on Chanyeol. For the last few days he realized that his mood could change depending on Chanyeol's behaviour. And if he was really honest, that newly found information was half angering him half making his heart beat crazily in his chest.

"Care to explain ?" the hunter asked with a more serious tone.

"Since ... I killed the wolf and everything that happened after that, as in you and me getting together and already arguing, I completely forgot to work on a paper I have to hand on Monday."

Baekhyun could sense how Chanyeol was tensed and still had trouble speaking of what he did during the fight with the other pack. He tried to help him but he couldn't do much, Chanyeol had to find the courage to forgive himself.

"Chanyeol, you have the whole weekend to write it. Plus why do you only realize that now ?"

"Well I was planning where to take you on our first official date but I remember the damn paper !" Chanyeol seemed pissed off and Baekhyun guessed the younger had probably a deep frown on his face.
