"L-let's call Seulgi..." I mumbled.
Minhee just nodded, and fished out his phone. His fingers were trembling, and the screen wouldn't even register his taps, but soon we heard the familiar voice of our elder sister.
"What do you need Minhee?" She sighed, probably stressing at work.
"T-there's a burglar in the house!" I whimpered.
"And they're taking a shower!" Minhee added.
The water stopped.
"Woah, woah, woah...what!?" Seulgi stopped us. "A burglar? Have they stolen anything? Are you guys hurt!?"
But before we could reply, the lock on the bathroom door slid open.
"He's gonna get us!" I cried, and clung onto Minhee.
"No he isn't," Seulgi said sternly. "I'm coming home in ten. You guys grab a weapon and hide."
She ended the call, and as we heard the person's footsteps on the landing, we quickly grabbed anything we could find and hid in Minhee's room; the closest room.
Under his bed were too many stuffed animals, so I decided to hide inside the wardrobe while Minhee hid behind his mirror.
The door opened.
I screwed my lids shut, hoping that they wouldn't find us, or that Seulgi would come home quick with hopefully the police at her tail.
The footsteps grew louder.
Pause.

"Where we gonna strike next boss?" I asked the silver-haired in front of me. It felt weird calling someone younger than me 'boss'.
"Patience John," he said, putting a hand in the air. "Let's wait for the trouble to come to us."
I nodded and sat down on a leather chair behind him.
He was watching the security cameras that Doyoung set up near an enemy's den a while ago. Boss was just replaying it, and was only four minutes into the footage.
"SR14...?" I leaned forward in my chair as my eyes scrutinised the bottom corner.
Though it was a 1080p screen, the last bit of one of their entry passcodes were cut off."Fuck!" I heard the Boss hiss. "Johnny, go tell Doyoung to see if he can maximise the camera vicinity."
I jumped up, nodding. "Right away boss."
After shutting the door, I made my way underground into Doyoung's office.::
"Ryujin, it's too dangerous." Her voice was on the edge of cracking. She had tears dribbling all the way down her face and she was red.
"I love you Yuna," I whispered, bending down to hug her. "I may not show it, but I love you so so so much."
"Then why are you leaving me?" She cried, sniffling into the hug.
I looked away, ashamed of not being able to answer. Instead I gripped harder onto her small frame.
"Goodbye, Yuna."
"N-no, please!" She wailed louder. "Don't leave me!"
But I was already out of the house, yet I could still hear my baby sister cry her lungs out.
'I'm sorry Yuna. But I'm doing this for us...'
two years later
"Whatcha thinking about?" I heard Yeji ask me as I sat on the fire escape and watched the city lights glow.
"Nothing," I answered dryly, stuffing my hands into my pockets.
I heard her crack a bottle of cherry cola open, and offer it to me. I shook my head."It's cold today, aren't you freezing?" She asked, after taking a small sip.
I shook my head.
Yeji opened her mouth, as if she were going to say more, but decided against it. Sighing, she told me. "Alright then. Chae is putting on a movie in five."
"I'll join you guys later," and added a smile to reassure her.
"Okay. See you inside!" And I watched as she crawled under the opened window and into the room.
I returned my focus in front of me. The streets were so empty, so bleak. As if all life were eradicated from them.
I sighed, watching my breath turn misty into the night.
The stars were barely visible from here, from our ugly apartment.
I sighed once more, before preparing to turn around - until I heard the sound of a screeching van and a loud scream.
It was a piercing scream that echoed through the entire city."What the hell?"
I guess Yeji and Chaeryeong heard it too, since they rushed to the window and asked what had happened.
"You don't think.." Chaeryeong started.
"Could it..?"
"Nah," I shook my head and ushered them away from the window so I could get inside. "Probably just them acting up again."
"O-kayyyy..." Yeji said, but didn't push it further.
We all knew that it wasn't a scream that we had heard before.
No, this was the scream of another civilian: one that we weren't aware of.
Were we really bothered to investigate?'Tonight just got a bit better'
