Today might as well be one of the most beautiful and treasuring days of all: Mother's Day. So I wanted to start off by saying thank you to my mom for always being there for me when I need a shoulder to cry on and believing in me. You are the best mother a daughter could ever ask for; you always make life brighter than ever even in the darkest days. Just know that I will always be there for you like how you were always there for me.
I think I woke up exceptionally early this morning for it being the weekend and me being a sleep lover: 8 o'clock. I mean, not too shabby right? I mean; compare to yesterday.
So at that time, I woke up to the lovely and charming sound of birds singing. Oh, I had the biggest and brightest smile on my face. I knew that today would be a splendid day.
But my head was a little dizzy and rolling out of bed was a difficulty as you might know. It's always freezing in my house in the mornings. I could feel my hands shaking slightly.
I moved the curtains to each side and opened the window to smell the breeze of nature whistling sweetly into my ears as I glanced upon an aesthetic morning sky with ease.
Then, I heard my phone vibrate from my table as I picked it up with my freezing hands and heard his usual good morning. I continued to facetime him for a little this morning, and we talked about the little things in life, including video games: Minecraft.
Later, we said our goodbyes as we headed off to do our own things. So I got out my poster board and started designing the perfect Mother's Day poster to surprise my mom. I used a salmon color pencil and purple, blue, and pink markers for the outline of the words. I then decorated it with stickers which is when my dad walked into my room, asking to join in my little surprise. And of course I let him.
We then baked cookies while my mom was sleeping in. The smell of baked cookies filled the house, bringing everyone to a pleasant mood.
I also made another omelette similar to yesterday for my whole family, but this time it tastes like one and looks like one, which made me feel like I accomplished something deep in my heart.
My mom woke up and went downstairs while we were downstairs to set up her surprise with the poster and homemade cookies. Her eyes lit up when we yelled "Happy Mother's Day!" and she was so excited, which made both my dad and me grin with happiness.
So my advice for today is to prepare something for your mother that will fill her excitement and happiness. First of all, your mother loves you so much, and she deserves this day because she always was there to support you and wipe your tears when you cry. Second, this will make you feel so good when you think of others, especially your family.
After the surprise, I had to go finish some school work, which didn't take that long. I mean, I love English, and it's a passion of mine since sixth grade, so I loved to do it. It's just that feeling that I will never let go of. I keep clinging onto it like a child with his favorite teddy bear.
Meanwhile, after school work, I continued to knit my blanket. I joined this organization called the MSAG to help active military and veterans for volunteering. I thought that this was a wonderful thing to do to help others during quarantine.
Knitting is one of the hobbies I thought was interesting to learn while we are stuck at home to help the community as much as I can in these hard times. Even though I cannot be on the frontlines since I am a student, I am still trying to find ways to help others.
After knitting for several hours, I helped my father make lunch for the family. We heated up pizza, which smelled incredibly delicious as it was baking in the oven. Then, we made tomato soup that was a slightly orangey-red. We prepared slices of bread coated with butter and put olive oil out for dipping.
Fast 5: my mom's favorite movie in the whole world. I mean, we have watched it for at least one hundred times by now. But today's my mom's day, so we happily watched the movie while eating lunch.
She loves this movie because it's about family, which is basically why I like it as well. It shows how family is worth dying for no matter the situation.
So my other advice for today is to continue to respect your family members because guess what? They will be the people, who will always stand beside you with support if anything bad occurs. They are your number one protector, so never take them for granted.
I also learned that life is short, and death is inevitable. Live your life to the fullest with purpose and direction. Use hobbies for motivation and take any opportunity that beholds you. You only live once, fulfill it with risk that might brighten your future with possibility.
After the wonderful movie that filled my house with laughter and joy, I facetimed him and while I passionately started a new chapter for The Daydreamers, he was playing Rocket League, which is of course, a video game.
And guess what? He's pretty darn good at video games. I mean, he's kind of a professional in some ways. But what do I know, I am not an expert in this area.
But we later talked about life and laughed about our little jokes that only him and I understand. I mean, other people would just think it's weird. But you know what, that's how inside jokes work.
After that, I finished up some of my school work and left some of it to do tomorrow; time managing, I guess. This way, I have time to do my new hobbies in my normal life currently, which is knitting, table tennis, running and workout, and writing.
With more time in my hands, I learn even more to efficiently do things on schedule and how to make even better plans to clear space for free time, helping my family, and just relaxing.
My advice for school: It is okay to take breaks because it helps you clear your mind and decrease the amount of stress in your body. Meditation apps work very well in terms of relaxing and calming down any anxiety.
I know how hard high school is sometimes, but always know that there are many things that are there to help you on the internet, family, friends, or pets to make you feel at ease. So why not use it, honestly?
Then, I made dinner for my family while watching some netflix. I made salmon, with mini crab cakes, which are my mom's favorite, and topped that with fried rice. So it was a pretty elegant meal, I would say. Plus, I successfully didn't burn anything in the meanwhile, which makes me smile.
Afterwards, we watched another movie, which was Minority Report. We were all snuggled in individual blankets to prevent from being cold. When I looked at my parents, there were smiles and small laughter in between the scenes as our eyes focused on the film, which brought me an abundant amount of joy, warming my heart.
As the sun set and night came about, he and I facetimed again talking about school work and other things.
To the start of today and the end, it was pretty great! I would say the best Mother's day ever planned and prepared, which I am proud of!
