Half way to the hospital, she had become unconscious and my heart was beating fast as hell. Her phone was ringing in back pocket and I picked it up. The name on the caller ID read "Mum" with heart emojis around it.

"Hello?!" I tried to calm myself down.

"I'm sorry. May I speak with Aly please?" Her accent was northern, but Alyssa's was southern, like she was born and raised here.

"Um yea, I'm Dan and I'm afraid Alyssa has had an accident, we are on our way to the Saint Margaret's Hospital."

"Oh my goodness is she alright?!"

"Um, well she hit her head and is unconscious also she had some almonds."

"Oh my baby! I'll see if I can get there soon, I'm actually in America!"

"It's fine if you cannot, myself And my roommate, Phil will be with her.

"How do you know my daughter?" She said concerned

"We live right above her."

"Alright, hug her tight for me" she laughs and the line dies.

We go to the hospital and wait. I feel my heart beating fast. After a while Phil goes to get water or something from the vending machine and I'm on my phone. We both doze off but wake up a few times to check on her, still sleeping. What if she doesn't wake up. I'm so stupid. Like half the world is allergic to nuts. This is my fault. What if she doesn't wake up.

After some deep thinking, a nurse comes with a woman behind her.
She smiles at us.

"You must be Dan." She looks at Phil and I giggle.

"Actually, I am." I half smile.

She looks at us up and down as if she were expecting us to look differently. I admit we were the only two guys here with matching fringes.

"So you're just neighbors?" She asked me.

"Yea, we met the other day."

"I doubt that." I blushed at her.

"Yea they're together, totally together." Phil teases and I pinch him very hard on his arm.

"Ow!"

"Stop it!" She teases me too. "How is she doing?" I give her my seat.

"Not sure, she's been in this condition for a few hours."

"I'm going to sit with her if you don't mind me."

I opened the sliding door and she walked inside. I really want to tell her it was my fault. I didn't want her to be in a coma or something and have her mum put a restraining order on us though. It was an accident. This was my fault. That is what I've been telling myself since she collapsed. If I hadn't been rude to her yesterday, she would have joined us for supper and not set the fire. Her mum was holding her hand as she just laid there. Why did I feel so much for her? I didn't know her that long? But I feel like I've known her for longer. Like one of those school mates that you speak to in class and you understand their sense of humor and their knowledge, but you don't even know their favorite color. Phil was on his phone, speaking to Martyn who we were supposed to visit today.

I check on her again to see her actually awake. I ran up to her and she cringed a bit. Yea, she was still a bit fragile.

"How are you feeling?" I ask, I hope I didn't do too much damage.

"Um fine." She looks a bit disoriented. Her mum leaves the two of us alone to talk.

She was squinting at me. "The doctor took your contacts out while you were sleeping. I shake the sterile and hand it to her. She put them in and stared at me wide eyed.
