(P.S. sorry if I switch between 2nd and 3rd person and for bad grammar.)

You looked up at the apartment building ahead of you. "This is it Y/N, our new home." Your mom said with optimism.

"Yay." You said, a little less excited.

"Look," Your mom began, "I know you miss Pennsylvania, but please, for my sake, give this place a chance? I bet there's some other kids that you can make friends with."

"Ok, I'm sorry." You said. If you thought about it really hard you could almost imagine that Nockfell was your old home, Albion.

You walked inside the building. It wasn't all that interesting. It had monotone yellow and green walls with a tile floor. there was a table with mailboxes on it, and a note that read "Welcome Home". It was kinda nice. You followed your mom up to room 404. As she was unlocking it, you saw two boys come out of a room a couple doors down. One was tall with long brown hair and a faded band tee. The other one was very short with blue hair and a mask of some sort. You gave an awkward smile and wave to them, which they returned.

You entered your new apartment and saw your boxes of things which had arrived a week earlier. You took your boxes and started to unpack. After a while, your mom came in.

"Y/N, you've been unpacking for a while. Why don't you go explore a bit, make some friends?"

"Ok. I'll come be back before dinner." You said. Your mom gave you a hug before you left.

You were never a completely introverted person, but you were kind of shy and awkward when first meeting people. You were unsure of how you were supposed to introduce yourself to the neighbors. Do you just knock on the door and say "Hi, my name is Y/N and I'm your new neighbor."? It seemed easy, but in reality it really wasn't.

You finally worked up the courage to knock on room 402, which seemed like the only other occupied room on your floor. Your palms were starting to sweat a little bit as you waited for the door to open. You hastily wiped them off on your pants. The door opened to reveal a tall man with blue hair. You assumed he was the father of the smaller boy you had seen earlier.

"Hi," you said, trying not to sound too anxious. "My name is Y/N and me and my mom just moved in at 404. I was just coming by to say hi."

Fuck. You thought. That sounded so awkward. I started and ended it with hi. Does that sound awkward? Or is it just me? Ugh.

"Hi Y/N, I'm Henry. Nice to meet you. Say, I have a son about your age, he's probably downstairs with Larry."

"Ok, thanks. Nice to meet you to."

Was "thanks" the right thing to say there? Yes, thank you for having a son. That totally makes sense.

"Yep. Well, see ya later." Henry said.

"See ya." You replied.

As you walked to the elevator you thought about how uncomfortable that was. You decided that you would wait for your mom to be with you to greet everybody else, so that you wouldn't have to do all the talking.

You went down to the lobby and saw the two boys from earlier sitting on the floor, playing on a gear boy. They were bickering about something, but then the taller of the two noticed you there and said "Hi."

"Hi." you responded. The other one looked up at you. At least, you were pretty sure he was looking at you. It was kind of hard to tell. "My name is Y/N. I just moved into 404." You said. You found it significantly less awkward talking to these two. It was still awkward, but not as awkward.

"I'm Larry, and this is Sal." Larry said.

"Hi." Sal said.

"Hi." You said again.

Nobody really knew what to say after that.

"You want us to show you around Nockfell?" Larry eventually asked.

"What is there to show?" Sal said before you could answer.

"There's the lake, and that spot under the bridge."

"That spot under the bridge is where all the stoners hang out though."

"And?"

Sal was quiet for a moment, then said "Ok."

Larry turned back to you for your answer. You thought about it for a second, and then said "Sure."

They showed you around the small town. It turned out there was actually quite a bit to show, which was surprising to you. There were plenty of secluded hangout areas and swimming spots for in the Summer.

You quickly became friends with Larry and Sal. You found out that the mask Sal had on was actually a prosthetic, and figured that Larry was probably a stoner like the kids under the bridge.

You were glad that you had made friends so quickly. You started to feel a little bit better about this place as you went back to your apartment.
