'You have got to be kidding me' Saige thought to herself.

There was Rafe, sitting on her family's couch in his pajamas.

"We knew Rafe had been having some issues at home so we thought he could stay here for a little while. He agreed to help your dad out around the house, we all thought it would be a good idea. He's staying in the extra room across the hall from you." Saige's mom said happily.

"Oh, joy." Saige's dad said sarcastically and Saige let out a laugh. They both wanted to strangle her mom at that point.. she was going too overboard with this. Everyone knew she was just doing this to try getting Saige and Rafe together.

"Alright then." Saige said. She went and heated herself up a bowl of leftover macaroni to take up to her room. She hadn't eaten a single thing that day, not even the breakfast her mom made that morning, and she finally felt like eating. She got a text from John B saying that JJ was over at his place.

"I'm going to bed, goodnight." Saige ran up to her room and couldn't wait to pile up in bed before she remembered...

JJ was laying there with her just the night before.

The memories all flooded back and she was no longer hungry. She thought about the intimate night she spent with him and how she was now just another notch in his belt. Thought about them dancing around her room at two in the morning. The reminders were like daggers into her spine and she couldn't keep the sobs from wracking her body. She fell down to the floor and just sat there and cried, how could she feel this way over someone she had just met? They barely knew each other. Still, it was all so real to her and now it's all gone. Her fantasy she was living out was over and it was time for her to get back to reality. She was a Kook that was meant to be with another Kook.

At least Rafe never wanted to leave her when things got tough. Maybe he was the right one waiting there all along, and all JJ did was turn them away from each other? How dare he?

Saige felt a figure sit beside her and she smelled his familiar scent. He held her the same way JJ would hold her.

"What's wrong, baby?" 'Baby'. That's what JJ called her.

"Nothing's wrong, I'm fine." She replied to Rafe.

"Tell me and I'll try making it better." He knew what was wrong, but this was all a part of his plan to turn Saige away from JJ. It was working.

"It's nothing, just got my feelings a little bit hurt today. But I'm a big girl, I can handle it."

"Who was it? Tell me and I'll go beat the shit out of them." Rafe said and stuck his chest out to make him look more buff. Saige giggled and him.

"No it's ok, everything got settled. What are you supposed to be helping my dad with?"

"He said he wants to fix up some of the exterior of the house and build some stuff for the yard, like a storage building and a chicken coop and stuff." Saige thought that was funny. Of course her dad wanted to build a chicken coop, something that nobody else owned on Figure Eight. If they wanted eggs they just went to the store.

It was also funny to her because she knew Rafe was the last person that could build stuff like that. He did not like getting his hands dirty.

"Random but alright, I'm sure he'll be happy when y'all get started. My brother doesn't do anything but play his Xbox all day."

Rafe grabbed Saige's hand and for the first time in a while, she let him. She didn't try to fight him off or tell him he sucks.

"I think this is gonna be really good for us, Saige. Everything will work out like it should. Have some faith." He leaned over and kissed Saige on the head before telling her goodnight and going over to his new room.

Saige knew it was time for her to let Rafe back into her life. It was time to forget JJ.

Right?

"Dude, what the hell is wrong with you?" John B yelled at JJ who was drunk as hell laying on his pullout couch.

"I had to let her go, she's better off without me." JJ mumbled.

"Just a warning, Kiara said she's gonna beat your ass next time she sees you." Pope warned.

"Yeah, Sarah said that too and quite frankly, I won't hold either of them back. You deserve it." John B added.

"Guys, shut the fuck up! I did it because I wanted to, end of story. I just wanted to have some fun with a Kook and I did, now it's time to go back to Pogue life full-swing. There was no way we would actually work out anyways, I had to stop it quick."

"But Kie said you told her you loved her?" Pope said.

"Yeah, we were just kind of caught in the moment. I didn't mean it and she didn't either." JJ replied.

"You idiot, I know you and you don't just tell girls you love them. Tell us what's the matter and we can help you fix it."

"What's done is done. I don't want to talk to Saige anymore and that's final."

JJ was secretly hurting so bad knowing that he hurt Saige but he had to do it. He wanted to call her up and make everything better. John B told him how miserable she was at the beach, which almost made him glad knowing that he cut it off before it got a thousand times worse in the future. Truthfully, all he wanted was to be holding Saige and telling her that he loves her... because he does.

"You really screwed her up, I hope you realize that." John B said.

"What if she goes back to Rafe? You know how bad he is for her." Pope said worriedly.

"At least he can take care of her. I'm not in any way able to care for anybody other than myself, we all know that."

"Why can't you quit being so fucking stubborn and realize she's what you need? This was your shot at having someone who really cares about you and you blew it. Good luck finding somebody else like her, because nobody else like that exists."

Saige woke up at about ten in the morning, she didn't normally sleep that late but it wasn't until four that morning that she went to sleep after tossing and turning the whole night. She went ahead and got dressed for the day and got her stuff ready to spend time with Sarah, she wanted to spend the day crying in her bed but she knew that wouldn't get her anywhere. If JJ was fine without her then she would be fine without him, too.

"Good morning, you look amazing." Rafe said from her doorway as she was putting her earrings in. She wasn't crazy about being around him again but this is how it's supposed to be, right? A rich person with another rich person.

"Hey, I'm hanging out with Sarah today. Probably gonna leave in ten minutes or so."

"That's great, I would love to hang out with you today but your dad and I are gonna be getting started in a bit. I'll miss you." He came over and hugged her, she hugged him back... but it just didn't feel right.

He tried to kiss her but she stopped him. "Rafe, I don't think I'm ready yet."

"That's alright. I'll wait forever if I have to, baby." He smiled at her. She smiled back at him and saw Sarah was texting her to hurry her ass up, so she said bye to her parents and Rafe and walked to the Cameron house.

"Ok, why is my brother staying with you? Your parents must not know about his cocaine problem." Sarah said right when Saige walked in the door.

"I don't know, but maybe it will be good for us? JJ was such a distraction and pulled me away from Rafe." Saige tried convincing Sarah but in reality, was she just trying to convince herself?

"You have to be kidding me. You're not serious, right?" Sarah looked at her, wide-eyed.

"Yeah, this is how it's meant to be. I have to accept it and move on. Rafe loves me and I love him, too."
