Enemy Lines-JJ

Saige sat at her vanity while Kiara and Sarah fixed her hair and makeup. She didn't want to make such a huge deal out of looking good, but all she wanted was to impress JJ.

"Do you guys really think he'll like how I look? I mean, he probably won't even pay any attention to me and I'll be doing all this for nothing."

"Are you fucking serious? You look amazing! JJ is gonna flip. We may have to hold onto him so he doesn't drop at your astonishing beauty." Sarah said and laughed.

"Was that sarcasm?" Saige asked.

"No, she's telling the truth!" Kiara exclaimed. "You look so cute, if I was JJ I'd totally tap that. Tell him he better watch out."

Saige smiled and rolled her eyes. "Thanks, I guess I'm just nervous. Plus, I already know my dad is gonna want him to meet everybody and I don't want him to get overwhelmed. Tonight needs to be perfect."

"Don't worry, it will be! Alright. How do you feel? Think you look good?" Sarah asked. Saige looked at herself in the mirror and as rare as it was for her to feel this way, she thought she looked beautiful. She couldn't wait to show JJ how she looked.

"I love it, thanks you guys," Saige replied and hugged both of her friends. "We ready to go?"

"Yeah, let's do this thing!"

Saige and Kiara walked through the entrance to Midsummers and went right to the snack table. Sarah couldn't join them, she had to walk in with John B and her family since the night was all about her dad. The two of them couldn't find JJ yet, but they did see Pope grilling over in the corner so they snuck up behind him. Saige poked his sides and he jumped, making him drop the utensil he was using.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" He asked.

"Oh shut up, you love me." Saige smiled at him and he couldn't help but smile back.

"Hey beautiful." Pope said to Kie. She walked up and kissed him which made the party guests look at them funny. They were finally ready for others to know about them, plus their families loved them together.

"Hey, cutie. Damn, you look amazing! Pope said when he finally got a good look at his girlfriend. She gave a twirl to show off her beauty and gave him a wink.

"And you look gorgeous too, Saige. JJ is gonna fall on the floor when he sees you." Pope added.

"Thanks, Pope," Saige smiled, "do you know where JJ is by chance?"

"I'm pretty sure I saw him talking to a group of old dudes over there."

Saige looked over and saw the 'old dudes' Pope was talking about... her dad and his friends. JJ was standing with them, too. Uh oh.

She hurried over to the group and grabbed JJ by the arm.

'Hey, babe! Uh, what's going on over here?" She asked nervously.

"Saige! Nice of you to join us," her dad exclaimed, "I was just telling the guys how JJ has been helping me. I think they all want his help now, too!" All of his friends nodded.

"I'm so flattered by your kindness, gentlemen, but I must get back to work. I will see all of you around and I'll keep in touch."

Her dad and his friends bid him farewell and talked amongst themselves when JJ and Saige walked away. She walked him behind the building to an empty spot and sighed in relief.

"I'm so sorry, JJ, I bet that was so awkward-," she finally looked at him and noticed the tuxedo he had on, "whoa, you look...wow. Um, wow..." She trailed off, speechless at how amazing he looked.

"I look stupid, don't I?" He said in disappointment. He really wanted to impress Saige tonight.

"What? No! JJ, you look amazing. Handsome. Sexy. I love everything I'm seeing right now."

He smiled and gave her a kiss. She was in love with his lips.

"Thanks, baby. You are the most beautiful girl here. I swear I'm ripping this dress off of you as soon as I get the chance." JJ said and Saige giggled, "Oh and about your dad, it went great. Really. He told the guys about what we did today and they seem impressed. I kind of think they liked me. Isn't that crazy? Maybe there is hope for a pogue in this world."

"I'm glad. Of course they liked you. You're amazing, JJ." Saige complimented him and he blushed at her words.

"Well I better get back to work. I'll come looking for you later. Have fun, alright?" Saige agreed to have fun and gave him one last kiss before he walked back into the kitchen. She couldn't wipe the smile off of her face as she went to find Kie. She was standing there with Sarah. The two girls laughed when they saw the look on Saige's face.

"Wow, somebody just had a nice little makeout sesh." Sarah joked.

"Shut up! We did not makeout. Anyways, how's the party going?"

"Kinda boring, honestly. I wanna dance!" Kie grabbed her friend's hands and pulled them over to the dance floor. They let loose to whatever song the band was playing and were laughing and having a great time. It had been a while since Saige let herself be carefree. She looked over and saw JJ serving alcohol to a party-goer. He looked over at her and laughed, seeing her act crazy, then waved at her. She waved back at him and smiled before paying attention to her friends again. John B and even Pope came over and joined them. Saige was having the time of her life.

It was the first time in a while she actually felt happy.
