Alina's body ached as she dragged her body to her bed and fell with a thud.
'Wow!' She gasped.
The feel of her bed, the fragrance of her room refreshed her. She moved her arms feeling the soft cotton bedsheet underneath her. She sat up straight upon hearing the birds chirping. Excitedly, she jumped down her bed and opened the window of her room. It opened to face few trees upon their branch's birds chirped melodiously.
Bangalore was bliss compared to the harsh weather of Noida and Delhi. It was burning hot summer there while the climate here was forever pleasant. She sighed happily leaning against the window-still. Just then, the door to her room opened and Asmat walked in carrying a tray with some biscuits and a cup of coffee.
'Mom!' Alina gushed and rushed to her with her arms open. She hugged her and felt at peace sharing a simple hug with her mother. She closed her eyes, joining their heads sideways and realized she had been longing for this peace. After they parted Asmat said the most mother cliched line.
'Look at you, Alina. You have grown so thin. Don't you get to eat anything.' Alina chuckled jumping on the bed and sat with her legs folded.
'I missed you, Mom.' She stretched her arms, but her mother pushed her away, twisting her lips. Alina grinned watching her.
Soon, the mother and daughter began to bond. Asmat was happy to know her daughter was content with her job. She shifted closer, a slow smile appearing on her lips, - 'How is your boss?' She enquired. Alina looked at her and noticed a glint in her eyes. She looked ahead with a bite of biscuit in her half-open mouth. She recollected his words, his love confession and her heart fluttered. She swallowed and avoided looking at her mother.
'He is fine—fine.' Alina muttered picking up the cup of coffee. Asmat eyed her but before she could say anything further, Khalid walked in. Alina was relieved that her father interrupted the uncomfortable conversation.

Mikael walked towards the coffee machine and paused upon seeing Meera there. He looked around.
'Hi!'
'Hi!' Meera looked at him. He picked up one of the brown paper cups and cleared his throat. He pretended to act cool whilst filling his cup.
'Is Alina, okay? She wasn't feeling well and today she doesn't seem to be seen.' He inquired, trying to not sound too concerned. Meera exhaled deeply and then took a sip of her coffee.
'She has gone to Bangalore. Her Chacha had an accident and so she had to rush home.' She informed.
'Oh!' Mikael's face fell. Meera grinned eyeing him as he took a sip.
'You have a thing for Alina, right?' She looked mischievously at him. Mikael turned crimson red and shook his head.
'No, no. I don't know what you are talking about.' He avoided looking at her but could feel his ears going red as Meera eyed him with a smirk plastered on her face. She laughed slapping his arm.
