You decide to go outside to cool down, since inside was too hot. The gentle breeze of the night envelopes you and you smile, content.

It hadn't even been a minute when you hear footsteps and you turn, your lisp turning slightly upwards when you see who it was.

"Shouldn't you be partying with all you got? It's your last school dance after all." You say.

Kuroo grins as he stops besides you. "I could say the same to you, (Y/N). This is our last high school prom."

You hug your arms. "I was feeling too hot so I came to feel the night. And you?"

"I came to check on you."

"Right." You tease, not believing his reason. "You probably just came to see if there were any beautiful third years outside wanting company."

He grins again. "Well, my luck, because I just found one."

You roll your eyes, not allowing his words to cause you a reaction. The loud music from inside could be perfectly heard where you two were.

"When did we grow up, Kuroo?" You ask, looking at the moon. He looks at you, raising an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?"

"It feels likes yesterday that were in our freshman year, starting our high school lives... But now, in a few months, we are going to college. How did that happen?"

Kuroo grins, a nostalgic look in his eyes. "Yeah, it's hard to believe. But we had a lot of fun, didn't we?"

You smile at him as you tilt your head. "Yeah, we did!"

Both of you stay in silence for a few moments, reflecting on all that you had lived in those three years. The hardships, the victories, the sadness and happiness.

It was all worth it.

"Well then," Kuroo starts and you glance at him, your eyes widening a bit as he reaches out a hand to you. "Would you give me the honor to dance with me?"

"Me?"

"Yeah, you." He grins again. "Come on, don't be shy."

You consider his offer even though you already knew your answer. You slowly place your hand atop his and he wraps his arm around your waist as you other hand landed on his shoulder.

"I'm sure there are many girls inside wanting to dance with you, Kuroo." You start as you both start rocking at the sound of the slow music. He interrupts you before you could finish the sentence.

"I know, I'm that great."

You roll your eyes, trying to keep the smile from coming. "As I was saying, if there are so many girls, why me? Now that I think about it, I didn't see you dancing with anyone in particular."

Kuroo grins, leaning his face to yours. "Oh? Am I right to assume that you were watching what I was doing?"

"Don't be stupid. I just happened to glance at you a few times."

It was a lie and you knew it.

He leans back. "Right." He swirls you and you laugh, your hair blowing in all directions. "I didn't really feel like dancing with them."

"Why?"

"There was someone I wanted to dance with and she didn't ask me."

"What?" You dramatically say. "There is girl who didn't want to dance with you? But that's against nature!"

Kuroo laughs and grips you slightly harder. You don't notice. "I know, right? And on top of that, this girl is so dense that she doesn't realize that I like her."

Your heart stops for a moment, and you feel a sudden wave of sadness enveloping you. A girl... he likes?

You look away, gripping his shoulder unconsciously. "Oh... I see. That girl must be great if she was able to win you over."

"She is." Kuroo agrees, rocking you from one side to another. You place your head on his chest, unable to look at him. "She's kind, honest and hardworking. And beautiful, of course."

You wanted him to stop talking. You couldn't hear this, his words of affection towards a girl that was not you.

"If she's so great..." You mumble. " Then why weren't you the one asking? Why aren't you dancing with her? "

He leans in, whispering in your ear. "I am."

You stop your movements and Kuroo stops as well. For a few seconds you don't say anything, you almost dare not to breath as you try to process the information.

I must have misheard.

"You didn't misheard." Kuroo says as if reading your mind.

You slowly turn your head to look at him, afraid to see a joking expression. But his face was serious and firm.

He's telling the truth.

Oh my God.

HE'S TELLING THE TRUTH!

You blush so hard you feel it on your ears and neck. "W-W-What?" You stammer, your legs threatening to stop working.

Kuroo grins at your expression. "I like you, (Y/N). I really do."

"S-Since when?!" This were the only questions that came to your mind and you feel like an idiot for asking them.

Kuroo looks at the sky, thinking, before returning his gaze to you. "Since last year, I think? Yeah, it was at the time when we didn't qualify for the Nationals and you came to support me. It was then that I realized..." He trails of but he didn't need to continue, you understood that much.

You feel out of breath, your heart beating fast.

And then, a wave of happiness came so hard that you feel like you could explode. A smile slowly forms on your lips as your eyes twinkle.

"You... really like me?" You carefully whisper, half wanting to know, half afraid that this was only a dream.

Kuroo moves his hand that was holding yours to his chest. You feel his speeding heart that matched yours. He gazes gently at you, the moonlight hitting his face perfectly. "With all my heart."

You blush as your other hand goes to his cheek. "What took you so long?! I thought my feelings were only one-sided."

Kuroo's eyes widen slightly. "What? I thought this was gonna be one of those moments where you only realize your feelings for me after I confess."

You giggle as you shake your head. "Nope, I'm sorry to disappoint you."

"Geez." Kuroo sighs as he leans his face to yours. You feel his breath on your face and you inhale sharply. "You really make me crazy, (Y/N)."

He touches your lips with his and you kiss back, enjoying each second of it. You had waited for so long, never believing it would actually happen. But now that it did, it felt even better than in the countless sceneries you had imagined.

You both pull away and Kuroo tightened his grip on you. "I can't believe on all the time we lost. And now, we won't have much ahead." He had a sad look on his expressions and your heart hurt when seeing it.

You place your hands on his cheeks, making him look at you. You wore a gentle smile. "It wasn't wasted. I loved every second. And for the future, I wouldn't' worry much."

"But we're going to different colleges."

"And who say that?" You grin provocatively.

Kuroo blinks, visibly confused. Adorable.

"B-But you said-"

"I said that I didn't know which college to go. But I can always apply for the one you're going to."

Kuroo lifts you up and swirls you and you yell, since you had been caught off guard. He kisses you slowly and you smile into the kiss. He places you gently on the ground again.

"You're the best thing that happened to me, (Y/N)."
