Marco slammed the folder that his secretary just gave him a while ago. Everyone inside the boardroom gasped in utter shock. Each of them inside held their breath as Marco so slowly stood up, his hands flat on the table.
"I don't want to hear you talking about my wife like that ever again." He said with gritted teeth. It's been two days since the scandal about her wife, Emily bombarded. Someone spread the news about Emily spending a night in jail when she was accused of killing Jane Montenegro. The rumors quickly spread in the business world especially that almost everyone knew Emily. Even Marco's board members have been talking about it. And of course he didn't liked it.
"Let's finish this meeting kung yan lang din naman ang paguusapan natin." He gathered his belongings. "And I can't believe na mas naniniwala kayo sa chismis. Kilala niyo ako at kilala niyo ang asawa ko. How disappointing." And he went out of the room even slamming the door behind him.
"Tell Kanor to ready the car. Cancel all my meetings for today." He instructed his secretary who was trying to cope up with his hasty paced. Everybody inside the building was afraid of the present Marco Montenegro. Marco has never been angry before. Not until today happened.
"But...but Sir, Mr. Ramos is expecting us today for the contract signing." His secretary, Lani stammered well aware that her boss might not like what she have said.
Marco turned to her and by the look he was giving her Lani knew to say no more. So she shut her mouth and just followed him until they reached the basement where Kanor's already waiting for them.
"Guidotti imports." He simply said and hopped inside the car. Kanor just gave Lani a small smile as if he was trying to console the poor lady before getting inside the car.
While on the way, Kanor could really sense that his boss was in a very bad mood. By the way his hands clenched on his lap it was already an indication that Marco could at any moment blow up. So he drove the car faster than the usual and it didn't took them long before they reached Emily's building. As soon as the car stopped in front of the establishment, Marco immediately went out of the car. The guards that was standing at the entrance was even surprised when he passed by without even acknowledging their greetings. But of course who are they to care?
Meanwhile, Emily just finished her meeting with her board members as well. She was of course aware of the rumors that was going around her. But she had no time to care and she doesn't really care. Maybe if it happened 5 years ago, she would've reacted but now she even hardly cared about it. After all it's just a rumor in the first place. And she knew the truth so if everyone thought that the accusation was all true. Then so be it.
"Thank you for your time, everyone. And for understanding. I have no idea who's behind all of this. Siguro isa sa mga kalaban natin sa negosyo na gustong pabagsakin tayo. Pero nagkamali ang taong yon sa pagbangga sakin. Dahil hindi niya ako kilala." She even smiled viciously at everyone who gave her a nod and a satisfying smile.
"Malaki ang tiwala namin sayo, Emelia. And we all know you can do this." Mr. Fernandez said which the others agreed too.
"Thank you. See you all next week."
And everyone started to leave the meeting room. When everyone was gone, Emily decided to go back to her office. She has work to do of course.
"Cristy, paki follow up nga yong accounting department natin. I told them to send me the monthly sales reports pero hanggang ngayon hindi ko parin natatanggap. Tell them I need it asap, okay?"
"Yes, Ma'am." Cristy opened the door for her and just like her secretary, Emily was brought to stop when they saw Marco sitting comfortably on the sofa inside her office.
