The Fox that got Lost in the Clouds

Unrequited Emotions

A small child could be seen running through the thick, dark forest. Their small, brown, old and worn boots could be seen hitting the ground. They were muddy and caked with leaves and small twigs. The black tights on their legs were full of rips and tears. The skin underneath could be seen littered with cuts and scratches. The little orange dress they wore was tattered with cuts as small twigs and leaves hung from it.

The short, sun blonde hair rested at their small shoulders. It was showing the beginning signs of knots and tangles as it flowed from the wind. Their little face was stained with wet and dried tears, shinning on their whiskered cheeks. Blue eyes, clouded with fear as they ran through the dark.

Naruto was a young girl of 7, she could feel the branches hitting her and leaving scratches along her arms and face. Behind her she could hear the heavy pounding steps of the large animal that chased her. She could hear the growls and heavy breathing that it emitted. "NO, LEAVE ME ALONE!!" She yelled breathlessly as she ran.

She could see nothing as she ran, she could only see what was in front of her. Causing her to narrowly dodge trees and jump over branches and thick roots. Her heavy breathing made her throat dry as she ran, her hands reaching out in front of her, helping her guide her way through the dark.

It suddenly became clear of trees and roots. The soft grass was all that she ran though now. Her mind was racing for an answer as she ran though the now strange field that laid before her. She didn't get a chance to think, when she suddenly ran off the cliff. Her hands out in front of her as she fell head first, into the inky abyss.

She jerked awake, laying flat on her back, her eyes wide with fear as her long flowing hair rested around her like a halo. The white sheets pulled up to her chin as she laid there. Then she began to hear the faint sounds of the heart monitor beeping to her left.

She blinked and her frighten eyes turned into tired and relaxed one. 'Just a memory.' She sadly but gratefully thought. She turned her head to her left and seen the pole of the heart monitor, and the closed brown door. A chair sat next to the door along with a long counter full of medicine and tools.

The room was mostly white and plain. 'The hospital?' She confusedly thought. She heard a noise to her right, causing her to snatch her head over in the direction. She could see nothing as she gazed at the window, the blinds were closed, keeping the sun light at bay. "It looks like early morning" She whispered to herself as she looked at the bright yellow light shine through the blinds.

She began to move her right arm from under the sheets, only for it to feel restricted. She blinked in confusion and looked down. Her cheeks flushed a light pink. There, Shikamaru could be seen resting on her arm, he was asleep, laying his head on her arm. He was lightly snoring, as he rested there. 'Shikamaru, you stayed by my side.' She happily thought as she looked down at him.

A loving look shimmered in her blue eyes as she looked down at him with a gentle look. She gave a pleased "Hmm." as she stared down at him. 'Im so blessed, so highly blessed to have you in my life.' She thought as she looked down at his resting face. She blinked in shock when she seen a forehead protector tied tightly around his upper right arm.

"Shikamaru!!" She yelled in a hushed whisper. 'He's a ninja now!' She excitedly and happily thought. She moved to sit up, but something glimmering on her chest caught her attention. She tried to sit up, slowly moving her arm from under Shikamaru's resting head. Once she successfully moved her arm, she was able to completely sit up. Allowing the objects to hit her lap.

She looked down, but was confused when she seen a dark blue cloth. 'It was shinny just a minute ago.' She thought in confusion. She picked up the cloth, instantly noticing the weight of it. She observed the cloth. 'It wasn't tied around anything, and there's nothing on it. So what's causing the-' She lost her train of though when she flipped it over. Her face held a blank look. Her eyes shining in many emotions as they flashed though them.
