Sasuke watched from afar as Shikamaru carried Naruto. 'Damn that Nara.' Sasuke growled, his plans were always foiled by a fan girl, one way or another.

He stood by a tree, not far from the group that he watched, the tree was large and wide, it was full of leaves. His right hand was against the tree, while his left hand was in a tight fist of frustration. He watched as they made there way to another tree.

It was skinny, but was wide enough for two people to lean against it. The bark was a light brown color, almost white. You could see all the bark that was peeled away from years of weathering. The leaves were a strong ,dark green, but the branches looked brittle.

Choji, decided that he was going to make it to the tree before his friends, mainly because he wanted to get from between the two ticking time bombs. Shikamaru and Ino, the tension between them was killing him, making him sweat with anticipation. So, he made a quick bee line to the tree, making it there before Shikamaru could.

Shikamaru watched as Choji rushed passed him, but he could understand, the tension was tight, and since Choji was a gentle soul, it was probably killing him. He watched as Choji got to the tree, then gratefully sat down, a huff a air came from him.

Ino was hot on his tail, constantly talking and trying to get him to stop. But Shikamaru had one target on his mind, and that was: to get Naruto out of the line of fire. Setting her down. Getting some answers out of her, then making sure she was comfortable.

He noticed how light she was as he carried her across the large field, but it was a short walk between the two trees.

Shikamaru inwardly grimaced. 'When was the last time she ate? Did she have a place to eat? Did she even have a place to sleep?' He thought, he was troubled by that last one. 'I know I said that earlier to Ino, but is she really homeless?' He was sadden by the thought. He hated that she was so fragile, she wasn't too quick to came to people for help. Even if she did trust said person. Her trust has been broken too many times.

Ino was fuming on the inside as she trailed after the boy. 'Damnit, since when the hell did Shikamaru put any effort into anything. He's practically treating Naruto like she's a queen. He's the most laziest person that I know, and yet, yet he put grate effort in for a freak.'

She was angered with that thought. As she watched his back, she could see Naruto's arms wrapped securely around his neck, and her golden head of hair resting on his shoulder.

'Sure, she has a hard life, and sure, she has no friends and family. But what does that have to do with any of us?' She was confused, angry and hurt. Confused by the Nara. Angry with herself for not understanding the situation. Hurt that her friends chose the freak over her.

Sasuke glared at Ino. "Damn her, she's in my way. The Nara is mine. I'm supposed to extract vengeance upon him for this morning. 'Not Ino get in the way.'" He said aloud bitterly to himself. He silently stood there, watching them make it to the tree.

Sasuke just couldn't understand what his family saw in that freak. She was many things. Such as:
Annoying,
loud,
stupid and
useless.

She was all the things he hated, and yet. His family simply adored her.
Annoying? They saw creative. Loud? They saw expressive. Stupid? They saw a waste of talent.
Useless? They saw misunderstood.

He was confused and angry. For years he has tried to gain his father's attention, and his brother's guidance. Yet here she comes, and all she has to do is fall over her own shoes. Here they come running.
Leaving Sasuke alone in the dark, and the only way for them to notice him, is that he has to befriend his ban of existence.
