Jennie's POV.

During the next week Irene and I became good friends. I know how incredible it sounds, how can one develop a strong emotional bond in such a short time? But it was true. Of course there has never been anything sexual between us, our bond was strong but purely platonic. She was still recovering after her breakup with Seulgi and I needed support because of my feelings for Lisa. We were like two hurting souls in desperate search for comfort and we found it in each other.

It won't be an exaggeration when I say that I was completely amazed by Irene. I loved everything about her. She was a fourth-year student already but unlike other seniors she never looked down on her younger colleagues. Always supportive and helpful, she was well liked by all around her. A kind of selfless, caring person who always has a good word for everyone. She was popular too, everyone knew her because she frequently organized various events on the campus.

"You're going out again? You've got classes early in the morning..." Lisa seemed surprised seeing me putting on my make-up.

"It's not like I'm going partying, I'm meeting with Irene, she needs my help with something."

"Ah, okay." I saw in the mirror how Lisa bit her lip anxiously. "I think I'm going to do stretches." she suddenly said. "Try to control yourself and don't stare at me too much." she added with a sly smile. Damn, this teasing attempt was so forced that it wasn't even funny, what are you nervous about Lisa?

"About that..." I paused for a moment trying to find the best way to explain my thoughts. "About this teasing thing... I'm grateful that you've been doing it and it really helped. But I don't think it's necessary anymore." she looked at me in surprise. "My crush on you, I think I'm finally getting over it."

"Oh, that's... great." she said, a confused look lingering on her face.

"I guess it's a relief for you."

"Yeah.... It is..." her voice sounded unconvincing.

"You should thank Irene, she's been really an amazing friend to me. She's so supportive... And I've been spending so much time with her that it took my mind off it. I'm really getting better. I'm so glad you and me will be able to be normal friends again."

"Sure... Me too." she paused. "You've been talking about her a lot..."

"And?"

"Nothing."

"Then why do you mention it?"

"Because..." she hesitated. "I'm sorry to say this, but it's like you're infatuated with her. It just doesn't seem healthy."

"Oh, give me a break, Irene's great, you should meet her and see for yourself."

"No thanks." What was that in her voice, did I sense a hint of annoyance?

"Why not?" I asked with surprise. "Wait, why don't you come with me today, I don't think Irene would mind."

"I can't, I have to study."

"You know what Lisa? Sometimes I just don't get you." I gave her a disappointed look, got up and left.
