Devyn awoke the next morning, still tangled in John B's muscular arms. She pressed a loving kiss to his forehead before climbing out of his grip as slowly as possible, doing her best not to wake him. She knew he needed the rest after the night they'd had. She smiled at JJ's sleeping form on the couch, his mouth open and his hair messy against the pillow as she slipped out the front door.

The walk to her house took her less than thirty seconds, and in a matter of moments, she was slipping in through her front door. She had no idea what time it was, guessing that it was semi-early from the sun's position in the sky. She quickly made her way into her room, slinging her small backpack onto her mattress as she packed a spare set of clean clothes. After slipping into an exposing black bikini and a pair of white jean shorts, she was on her way out, pausing in front of Alex's closed door. She turned the knob silently, peeking into what used to be her mother's room. Alex's head jerked up at the sound as he slowly blinked the sleep out of his brown eyes, squinting at his sister in the doorframe from the bed.

"Sorry," she quickly apologized. "I didn't mean to wake you. I just wanted to let you know I'll be with my friends today."

"Okay," Alex said lowly after a minute, averting his gaze as he turned away from her. "Close the door on your way out."

She did as told, slipping out of his room as she gasped, spotting a sleeping figure on the couch that she hadn't noticed before.

"Barry?" Devyn whispered, heart racing as the man looked at her confusedly.

"Aye, what's good, lil' D," Barry grinned at her as he sat up, giving her a fist bump as she shook her head.

"You here for Alex?" She asked him quietly. In all honesty, her and Barry got along quite well. He was over here a lot to give Alex more product to sell, although Devyn always thought there was something going on between the two.

"Yeah, yeah," Barry nodded, his low ponytail bobbing at the action. "I'll just wait until he's up though."

"He's half-awake in there. I gotta head out, but good to see you," Devyn gave him a tired smile as she made her way to the front door.

"Just remember," Barry called out to her, causing her to pause in the doorway, "if you need anything, ever. You know I'm your guy."

"I know, thank you," she grinned, knowing he meant every word.

"Alright lil' mamas, get outta here," Barry dismissed her with a wave of the hand. "Make good choices, love you."

"Yeah, yeah," Devyn chuckled, slipping out the front door as she headed back to John B's.

Her talk with Alex was probably the most civil conversation the siblings have had in almost a year. It was no secret that he blamed her for their mother's death; he reminded her every chance he had. It was especially hard since Devyn was the spitting image of their mom; same dark black tresses, same chocolate brown eyes, same soft, tan skin that kept its color all year round. She had been especially nervous to be around him, considering that her birthday, which was also the anniversary of her mother's death, was rapidly approaching them. Devyn had no idea how either of them was going to respond to the first anniversary of her passing, and she wasn't exactly looking forward to finding out.
