He hasn't changed not one bit after all these years, he still looks the same and now is here at the door smiling at me like he's the best thing that ever happened to me with two odd looking children beside him.
He smiles at me with his arms wide open. "Naomi"
I hesitate for just a second before I close the door in his face.
"Good morning Naomi"
I turn to face Nathan, who looks like he woke up on the wrong side of bed.
"Good morning" I say going back to the kitchen.
He runs his eyes, obviously not prepared to get up. "Who was at the door?"
How do I even say it even me I don't believe he's the human being I just saw maybe it's just an illusion.
"Naomi I asked a question" Nathan says raising his voice a little.
"Dad" I say even though it doesn't sound right to my ears.
I watch as all the sleepiness disappears from his eyes.
"What's he doing here?"
How will I know? Am I inside he's head or did he inform me he was coming. I just saw him this morning at the door. No dey ask me daft question.
I know you're thinking this girl, you use to overreact to small things, you could just have said I don't know, but the smallest of things irritate and annoy me.
It's just how I am, my mum thinks it's a problem. I don't see it as one, I just feel I'm not as friendly as others.
"Why are you taking time to answer questions" Nathan asks me.
I walk into the dining room with my bowl of cereal. "I don't know why he's here"
"Can I have some of your cheerios'?" he asks coming with a spoon.
No, I DON'T SHARE MY FOOD!
"It's too small to share" I say taking a spoonful for myself.
"Liar, you that your food is always enough for three people"
He knows me so well.
I shove a spoon full of cheerios into my mouth. "Three normal people. It is enough for one abnormal person"
"You even know your condition that's the first step to solving it" He says taking a spoon of my cereal.
"I hate you" I say as I watch him take spoon after spoon of my breakfast.
This boy na cow!
"The feeling is mutual" he says with his mouthful.
Talk about lack of table manners.
"Adesua, Osaeze"!! I hear my mum shout and I can tell she's coming down the stairs.
"Ma"! We shout in unison.
"Good morning ma" We greet as she enters the dining.
She sit on one of the dining chairs retying her robe. "Good morning, how was your night?"
"It was fine ma" I answer.
My brother doesn't say anything, I turn to see him gobbling up my cereal like he owns it.
"Give it back to me" I hiss and he mumbles some inaudible word before pushing the bowl towards me.
"Take"
