Chapter Four: Evelyn

"Stop!" I shout crying as she walks over with the syringe in hand with the serum much the same as the one dauntless use for the fear simulations but I know it's modified to bring me even more pain.

"Oh Ms. Eaton it only gets worse from here." She says sticking the needle into my arm care free of how much it hurts the same area that always has a needle injected into it.

Flame's POV

I walk out of my room and into the woods. I climb one of the trees and for awhile I sit singing softly.

"I remember tears streaming down your face when I said I'll never let you go,

When all those shadows almost killed your light,

I remember you said don't leave me here alone,

But all that's dead and gone and past to Toni-i-i-ight,

Just close your eyes,

Then sun is going down,

You'll be alright,

No one can hurt you now,

Come morning light,

You and I'll be safe and sound-"

I stop and tears fall off my cheeks. Ash was like a sister to me and now she's gone. No one can hurt her now though.

"Ash I miss you." I sob and burry my face in my hands crying.

"Knock it off Flame!"

Her voice shouts in my head.

"Dauntless don't cry."

I wipe my eyes frantically and my runny nose on my sleeves of my jacket.
I hear the sound of trucks pulling in. I look and see black cars/trucks pulling in. I scramble down the tree because these aren't the Amity's trucks.

I sprint to the dining area and see everyone talking. Jakyia notices me and a worried look comes over her face.

"Flame what's wrong?" She asks and I look at everyone my eyes stopping at Tobias'.

"It's them. The Erudite and Dauntless Traitors." I pant and everyone's eyes grow in fear.

-Minutes later-

I sit on the floor smiling at Sally who sits across from me playing a game where you slap each other's hands. That's when the doors burst open. Dauntless walk in with guns and blue arm bands tied to their arms.

Then I look at Sally as people continue with their day. We both stand up smiling and I glance at the others. Tobias gives me a small nod and me and Sally escape through the back.

We then run and I don't hear anything but our footsteps. We run into a cornfield. I grab her hand as we bound through the corn like deers.

Then I hear the shouting and gun shots. I run faster and Sally does too. We make it to a clearing and I see a train beginning to pass. "Here we go Sally!" I say and we run along side of it.

She grabs the handle and I help her in. I see my friends and non friends run out of the cornfield and to the train. I swing myself in and soon we're all in except for Marcus and Peter. Good riddance.

That's when a gun clicks by my head. I turn and see a man with dirty blonde hair and he wears an eye patch.

"Who are you?" He asks and I notice his voice.

Edward.

I look around and a woman steps out. "Lower the gun Edward. I know one of them." She says and looks at Tobias.

"Hello Tobias." She says and he looks at her tensing a little.

"Hello mother." He says and I see the similarities the tanned skin, dark eyes, hooked noses.

So this is his mother. I look around and see that we indeed are riding with the Factionless.

I'll probably be dead by morning.
