J's POV (whoa there's a shocker)

One minute I was sleeping soundly in the small apartment like place where we all slept the next I was up looking for a glass. I don't remember why I woke up but damn was it early and I was tired. I finally found a small jar like glass and filled it with water from the sink.

I took a quick glance at myself in the mirror to see my tangled bed head. Cringing I set my glass down and attempt the tame my hair which worked but it didn't. It has a mind of it's own.

I give up and put on a pair of black jeans I managed to get ahold of from when we we're staying with the factionless. I put that on and a black shirt.

Memories of dauntless come flooding back causing me to smile at all the fights and fun.

I'm brought back to reality by the sound of thudding heavy footsteps. I find a spare gun Four just left lying around. I make sure Sally is still sound asleep her worn stuffed rabbit tucked between her arms sound asleep.

I get a twist in my stomach telling me something isn't right the fact that there is no chatter of arguments from any Candor members or playful foul language from Dauntless. That twist only turns more as I make my way to the door and open it. Peaking my head out I notice the hallways only lit with the safety lights on.

I take a step out and immediately a stab of pain shoots through the bottom of my foot causing me to curse and bite my lip. I observe and pull out a piece of glass. I don't know why I stopped to see what was wrong I should've kept moving...and I did....when the gunshots started firing.

I sprint down the hall to the nearest doorway and press my back to the cold wall. I feel the warm trickle of what is either sweat or blood run down my forearm. I set my head against the wall and take deep breaths now feeling the excruciating pain in my arm.

I almost fire my gun when I feel a hand set on my shoulder lightly. Jerking from the person I hold my gun up against their forehead.

"Easy easy easy!" Four's voice whisper shouts and he moves my gun down back to my side.

"What the hell is going on?" I whisper glancing down the hall to see a shadow run across the hall.

He sighs, "come on we don't have time." He starts walking down the hall. I jog after him confused and frustrated.

"Sorry I got your arm." He grumbles quietly and I almost swing a punch at him.

"I'm fine." I say sternly. No more words are exchanged until we get to a main area where I see bodies laying unconscious on the ground in the weirdest of positions.

"Come on we have to find them!" A deep familiar voice booms from behind down the hall I came from.

I cringe thinking of the tattoos, piercings, and greasy hair.

Four starts walking over the bodies quietly, I waste no time to follow him. I haven't spoken to him in a long time yet I haven't cared a whole lot since he's with Tris. I feel a pain in my chest, an emotional pain that I haven't felt in a long time.

We get to the main area and look down the small flight of stairs. We crouch down and peak over the railing down the stairs.

I see two guards dressed in all black with two blue patches on their jacket sleeves, guarding the open elevator. I see a few sets of feet but the shouts of a girl make me look away before I can even make out who the people are. And there she is...Tris being pushed forward by Eric. I look over at Four and his face looks upset but a new emotion is masked but not well, anger.

Soon she's shoved into the elevator along with Uriah. My thoughts immediately flow to Bella and what would happen if she found out. Once the two guards are gone Four takes off down the flight of stairs. I follow and almost fall but I manage to get down. He turns and runs down a hall. Is he mad?!

I do the logical thing and run down the next flight of stairs to the main entrance I aim my gun at the doors to the elevator and soon I hear clicks of other guns. I look over my shoulder and see Lynn and Tori and many other dauntless members, I even see Cristina but she doesn't have a usual glimmer in her eyes. I look back at the doors to hear a gunshot.

Ding

The doors open with a creaking sound to reveal Tris, Uriah, and two older Candor members but the sight of the dead teenage boy makes my stomach flip. I shoot one of the guards in the leg while Four out of no where grabs Eric whom soon is laying on his back on the ground.

"Good seeing you here Four." Eric says with a clever smirk but his smirk falters when he realizes he's trapped.

I help Tori to get the other people out of the elevator and soon more people wander into the entrance dazed and confused.

If only they knew what they missed.
