Blake POV

With that news, I called off almost everyone except those who were in the van with me and the van that was closest to the safehouse. My van goes to meet Wilder while the other one goes to make sure everyone else is okay and to now stay there with the other guards to ensure no one else disappears.

Wilder is waiting at the door when I arrive with a sad look on his face.

"I'm sorry that you've lost her again," He says before the roar of a motorcycle echoes around us.

"Who's that?" I ask.

"Justin Rose's wife, we're holding her here as payback for the assault a little while ago. Someone go grab her before she gets away!"

"You didn't tell me about that. When was it?"

"The night after you got Zoey back; I didn't want to bug you since you just got her back. I guess that doesn't matter too much now since she's gone again."

"What happened when you got there?"

"She was gone by the time we got there and there was no sign of a break-in. The other people there hadn't even realized she was gone, it was as if she did it voluntarily."

"I have people checking the house now for a note. Did you find one with old looking paper?"

"Umm...yeah I think so but we left it in what this girl, I think her name was Paisley, said was her room."

"I'll have to go back to the house and search her room for it."

"Okay. Well, keep me updated on it and I'll have to finally meet her once she comes back."

I get back in the van and we drive over. Layla is waiting at the door and jumps when she hears the van drive up.

"Blake, thank goodness you're here. Zoey is-"

"Gone, I know. The man who came by before I got here told me. He's my friend and he's very trustworthy; you might see him pretty often now that Zo is gone. Anyways, do you know what happened?"

"Not a clue. That guy barged in the door with some other people and tried to quickly explain who he was asked where Zoey was. She had been in her room but when Paisley came back downstairs from showing him, she told me Zoey was nowhere in sight but there was no sign of a break-in or struggle."

"That's what Wilder said too."

"Is Wilder your friend?"

I nod and go up to her room. I look around and it looks as if she stepped out for just a moment, with a glass of soda fizzing still on her nightstand along with her phone charging next to it. The TV was rolling the credits to a movie and her bed was still unmade as usual. In the center of the bed though, was an old-looking paper that could only have been a gift from Darren.

I pick it up and read the words to myself:

Dear Zoey,
Did you really think your darling Blake could hide you from me? I'll give you two choices. Either come outside when you see a black, silent motorcycle drive up underneath your window today or risk hurting everyone inside because I have to come in to get you. I hope you make the right decision.
From,
Darren

So must've gone outside which is why no one realized she was gone until Wilder came. She was trying to protect her friends. I just wonder, why didn't she call me? There had to have been a reason why because I had talked to her last night and she seemed happy, just missing me. I search and scan the room for something that could've been the reason why but find nothing.

"Zoey was in the bathroom and a little while before she disappeared if you're looking for what she was doing before this all happened," Hannah says from the doorway.

"Thanks. Do you know why she was in there?" I ask.

"Nope but I know she seemed nervous all day. Maybe check the bathroom or closet for something."

I take her suggestion and tear apart her closet. There's nothing weird, just books, clothes, and a box of pictures she had yet to put up. I check the bathroom next and one thing immediately catches my eye. I pick it up right as my phone rings. I check to see who it is and it's an unknown number. Answering, her voice rings through the phone.

"I guess you found the test by now, right?" She says. "I was going to tell you but all this happened before I could. Look, I love you and I'll see you soon."

The line goes dead right afterward but I can barely process her call or what I'm holding in my hand. She's pregnant and kidnapped, but at least I know why she didn't call.
