Chapter 18: 𝓪𝓬𝓺𝓾𝓲𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓮

Iris' POV

I've been sulking in my room for days now, Y/N always checks on me and gives me something to eat but I refuse to.

I received a knock on the door and it's probably a maid checking on me, Y/N went out with Maihua last night so I'm alone right now.

"Mrs. Anderson, someone is looking for you" the maid said as she opened the door and I just nodded.

I never got visitors these days but I went out not bothering to fix myself. I was walking down the stairs and I saw Donna sitting on the couch.

"What now?" I casually asked, "I just wanna check up on you" she replied. "We're not friends Donna so please don't be so plastic" I said as I sat in front of her.

"Do you remember why we aren't friends anymore?" She asked. "Donna do you want?" I asked wanting her to go straight to the point, she's really getting onto my nerves right now.

"I want to remind you of the truth" Donna said, "the truth? Well the truth is your so obsessed about Robert that until now you haven't moved on" I answered.

"I'm not the one sulking up in her room the whole day sweetheart" Donna said and I looked at her in disbelief, she just shrugged it off.

"Do you really think Robert loved you?" Donna asked and I didn't answer. "You know you are just a rebound" Donna said.

"And you really think you're his first love?" I asked and she looked at me in confusion. "Donna, I begged him to love you, he confessed to me but I know how much you like him so I asked him to love you instead, he learned how to love you" I explained and I could see tears form in her eyes.

"Did you like him back at that time?" Donna asked and I nodded. "Fine, I'm not his first love but I'm the one he loved all this time" She said as she stood up.

"You may leave" I said as I stood up aswell. "I'm not leaving this time" She said and I tilted my head, what she said just made me confused.

"I'm taking everything Robert left" Donna said "you already took the house what more do you want?" I asked.

"You, he left you as well" Donna answered "are you serious?" I asked, "I'm not leaving until I see you suffer" she said.

"I'm already suffering" I said. "Yeah, suffering in this big house, I'm not gonna stop until I see you on your knees begging for your life" Donna said as she pulled out a gun from behind her.

I didn't know what to do at this point, it's not like my maids can help me, they signed up to clean the house not to save me from a crazy woman.

"Fine, shoot me" I said and tears formed in my eyes, after everything I'm ready to die anyways.

"I have nothing to lose Donna" I said, "are you really that selfish? You have a daughter Iris" Donna said and it broke my heart.

I know Y/N has been taking care of me and it would really hurt her but maybe my time has come and I'm ready for it.

"I don't care what you think Donna but leave Y/N out of this" I said the moment I saw her pull the trigger a girl showed up in front of me.

"Gaonha!!!" Someone shouted. Y/N ran to me and hugged me, I look at the floor and I see Donna's daughter bleeding.

"Mom are you okay?" Y/N asked and I snapped back, I nodded in response. "Y/N I'm bringing Gaonha to the hospital" Maihua said as she carried Gaonha.

"I'm coming with you" Donna said as she rushed to follow Maihua.

"Mom let's get you fixed, you need to rest" Y/N said as she lead me to my room.

Donna's POV

We were rushing Gaonha to the ER and I was holding her hand, I can't believe I shot my own daughter, it was an accident but I just can't imagine myself being the reason why my daughter could die.

"Gaonha, I'm so sorry" I said "I- I'm not... the one you.... should say sorry to" she hardly said.

"Ma'am you're not allowed beyond this area" the nurse said stopping me, I just saw them bring Gaonha to a room.

      

I sat beside Maihua in the waiting room. "Iris should have been shot" I said. "Are you serious??" Maihua asked furiously.

"Don't you see, your daughter is in danger because of your fvcked up revenge" Maihua said. "I told you, this revenge of yours will only make you worse" Maihua added.

"You're never gonna get that anger and hatred out of you if you don't learn how to forgive" Maihua said. "She never apologized" I said in defense.

"You can't blame Iris if Robert decided to marry her, you left him!" Maihua said "I was forced to leave him" I said.

I didn't have a choice back then all I could do was follow my parents or they'd kill Robert.

"But you didn't fight for him" Maihua said "I didn't have a choice, my parents would kill him if I did" I answered.

"I fought for Y/N and she fought for me aswell that's why we have each other until now" Maihua said. "Look I tried my best" I said as I tried to reason out.

"You're just a coward" Maihua said bluntly.

"I—" I couldn't say anything.

"You're too scared to admit you're wrong and you know deep down you haven't forgiven yourself" Maihua said.

"And I feel bad for you, you just lost a great friend who sacrificed what she felt for you but you threw it all away" Maihua added.

"You don't deserve to have a friend like Iris, did you even ever ask her if she felt something for a Robert? Of course not because you were too concentrated on yourself" Maihua said.

"Now look, Gaonha is paying for all your selfishness" Maihua said.

I'm ashamed of myself right now because Maihua is right, she's right. Maihua stood up and left me.

She's right, I am a coward, I am selfish, and I am filled with anger and hatred. I kept blaming everything on Iris but the truth is I was just looking for someone to blame because I was all wrong from the beginning.

It had to take Gaonha's safety just for me to realize this. I'm scared right now because I know I owe everyone an apology.
