Chapter Twelve:

The rest of the weekend passed quickly. Almost to quickly in a way. Most of the time I was on cloud nine. Happy for a new relationship, and the prospect of moving on from my ex. Ever since that conversation with my mother, I jumped every time my phone rang or vibrated. It's not that the past relationship was a bad one. Or well in the beginning it wasn't. But any long relationship that doesn't end all that well is bound to stay with you for a while. Right now all I wanted was to forget about my ex and focus on my relationship with Damien.

I was happy to be back at work on monday after the long weekend. It kept my mind occupied. Plus it helped that my Jeep was being delivered today. Not sure on what time, but the dealership called me on my way to work and said to expect it around noontime. Most of the morning was spent trying to get the emails that had piled up over the weekend answered as well as making sure the store was updated as needed and figure out some advertising things. So far I had only seen Courtney and Sarah, no clue if Damien was even at work today or just in another part of the building.

It was right around lunch time that I got a call from an unknown number. My eyebrows furrowed together as I quickly answered. Letting the person on the other end talk before I jumped out of my seat and practically ran from the office. Feeling like a child on Christmas morning  as I made my way through the building, almost running into Shayne when I rounded the corner.

Barely glancing over my shoulder as I continued down the hallway. "My apologizes good sir!" I shouted as I exited the building. Shayned watched me with a confused expression before turning and following me out of the office. Looking around the parking lot once I got outside, my eyes narrowing slightly before finally finding my vehicle. A happy grin came over my lips as I skipped over to it. Smiling at the man who handed me the keys as well as explaining some stuff about it and where to find the registration information.

My head nodded as i listened to him. "Thank you! Have a great day!" I called after him when he walked over to a different vehicle. Watching as he left before I turned my attention to my new Jeep. Shayne finally came over to me and raised his eyebrows as he watched me do a little happy dance.

"I have never seen someone so excited about a car." He commented as he looked over the car, nodding his approval. "I also didn't take you for a jeep girl... A prius would be a better fit."

I stuck my tongue out at him before unlocking the door and peaking inside. "I'll die before I drive a prius thank you very much." I said. Looking in the glove compartment to make sure the registration info was tucked in before closing the door and stepping back.

"So how was your weekend?" Shayne asked as the two of us turned to walk back towards the office. I glanced up at him, eyes narrowing slightly before shrugging.

"It was a good weekend. How was yours?" I asked. Shayne stopped by the door as he turned his attention back to me.

"I know Damien asked you..." he trailed off. "He also mentioned that you guys were keeping it on the downlow at work right now. But honestly, I have never seen the man so happy in a while. Be good to him."

"I plan on it Shayne." Glancing down at my feet before looking back up at him. "He makes me happy. But its my idea to keep it on the downlow right now. I think only you and Courtney know something's going on between me and him. So please... Try not to tell anyone."

He nodded before tugging open the front door and guesturning for me to walk in first. "Your secret is safe with me Thea."

Flashing him a smile before stepping it. We went our separate ways once I was back to my office. My phone went off when I sat down at my desk. Unlocking the screen before reading the text
