I couldn't pinpoint the last time my nerves felt this shot. Not that really needed to be. Every couple had their moments. But it always felt like the first one was the one that made your heart race. Its that point where you can either make it through, or you let the stupid little thing wreck what could possibly be the life you've been looking for.

When Courtney finally pulled into the parking lot, my eyes darted around, spotting Damien's car already there. A lump popped up in my throat, which I quickly swallowed. Sucking in a deep breath as I glanced at my friend who gave me a reassuring grin.

"You really don't have to be nervous." She commented as she climbed out of the vehicle. "He'll get over it. It's not like Damien to hold a grudge."

Taking a couple of seconds to settle down my nerves before I climbed out. Making the door shut behind me as I approached Courtney. "I know... Its just the first time we don't see eye to eye." I commented.

She linked her arm with mine, half pulling me into the building.

"Lets just forget about boys for a bit, and have fun." She said.

Smiling thankfully at her as I let her drag me into the building. Looking around the room, waving to a few people who I knew. Spotting Damien at a far corner talking to a few people I didn't recognize. He glanced over right as I walked in, our eyes meeting briefly before he turned away. My breathing hitch slightly before i looked away. Noticing Shayne and Sarah approaching, a small smile slid over my lips. Accepting a hug from both of them before raising my eyebrows when Shaye held out a glass bottle.

"Now you're trying to get me drunk?" I teased before accepting the beer.

"God no, we know how you are drunk. You just look like you need it." He comment, taking a drink from his own bottle. Sarah tilted her head in my direction with a confused expression on her face.

"I know that look... Boy trouble?" She asked lightly. Nodding my head as I took a drink. "Want to talk about it?"

"Thanks... But not right now. Not here." I muttered.

Only noddin g and giving my shoulder a soft squeeze before she walked off to talk to someone else. Courtney had disappeared as well, leaving me alone with Shayne who took a step closer and leaned towards my ear.

"You good? Damien told me about it earlier." He muttered in my ear. "I'm not on either side... But I'm here if you gotta talk."

"Got it." I mumbled.

Glancing back at Damien, who I noticed was watching me. This time he didn't look away. Keeping my eyes on him, my expression blank, mirroring his own. We stood there watching one another for what felt like eternity, but was only a minute at the most. He was the first too look away. Shayne glanced from me to his friend before back to me and sigh.

"Talk to him.. Sooner rather than later." He warned, lifting his drink in my direction before disappearing into the crowd.

Plastering a smile on my face as I mingled with co-workers and people i've grown to know as friends. Keeping track of where Damien was as I moved around the room. Setting the empty bottle on an empty spot on a table filled with bottles before brushing my bangs out of my face. Eventually finding myself in a corner of the room next to the door. That was where Courtney found me a while later. Grinning at me once she walked up.

"You wanna head out?Its dying down." She asked, gesturing to the door.

"Yeah.. Lets..." My voice was interrupted by someone behind Courtney.

"I'll give her a lift home..." Damien said, his arms shoved into his pockets as he looked at me. His face not showing any emotions.

Glancing between the two of us then facing me. "You ok with this?" Courtney asked in a concerned tone.
