They were given 15 minutes to form their teams. Izaya looked around, seeing that everyone else seemed to be avoiding him. But it made sense since most teams would end up targeting him. He was worried that no one would end up wanting to team up with him when he felt someone tap him on the shoulder. He turned around and saw Uraraka and Izuku.
"Do you want to team up," they asked.
"You guys," Izaya said. "How is it I was blessed with such great friends. Allright. Lets do this, I'm sure we can win this."
"Well it will be difficult since everyone will target us," Izuku began muttering.
Izaya decided to stop him before he started one of his muttering storms. "Hah, don't be so closed minded. They can try to get our points, but if I'm the rider then our victory is guaranteed."
"What do you mean?"
"Well this is a cavalry battle where quirks are allowed. The winners will be the ones with the most points, and we would be targeted because of that. But just like a normal cavalry battle, the rider can't touch the ground." Izaya smiled and held up a finger, igniting a small flame. "But I can fly, so if I wanted I could spend the entire match in the air. Now I won't be perfectly safe, but I would be pretty much untouchable. And since I can manipulate fire, I can also go on the offense. My quirk gives me offense, defense, and maneuverability all at the same time."
"Ah you're right," Uraraka exclaimed. "We would just need to carry you at the beginning, and then during the rest of it, we can be ready to catch you if necessary while also trying to take other teams headbands."
"Exactly. There is just one more person who I think should be a part of our team, and they should be here in 3... 2... 1."
"Hey mister number one spot, team up with me," came a hyper voice. A split second later, Hatsume came from behind and stood next to Izaya with her flace close to his. "You'll stand out so this is perfect."
"Yep, perfect. Mei HAtsume from the support course. I hear you're pretty talented and a bit eccentric, so I'm sure you have some pretty helpful inventions."
"And terrifying ones," Deku muttered. Izaya had to refrain from shuddering as he remembered Hatsume's bold and sometimes insane personality. On more than one occasion when he was in the support course lab she almost blew everything up. He had managed to stop it from happening, but other times he wasn't as lucky. And she would also like to ask him to test different things out for her.
"Huh, have we met before?"
"No, but I'm in the hero course. And I know that my life and the lives of other heroes will be in the hands of you support course students, so I've kept an eye out. Like I said, I've heard good things about you."
"Well whatever, with you in the spotlight, I will also be in the spotlight by being a member of your team. ANd by extension, so will my babies."
"Uh, her babies," Izuku whispered to Uraraka.
"She means her inventions," Izaya told him. "I wasn't just lying around after the race. I kept an eye on the screens and I noticed some of your inventions. Like those hover boots. So then, it looks like we have our team. Now then, who's ready to win this thing?"
"Alright everyone, your fifteen minutes are up," Midnight announced. "Let's get a battle cry! Here comes the starting signal!"
Everyone had formed up in their teams. Once everyone was ready, the start signal was given, and unsurprising, pretty much every team started running towards Izaya's team. But that was when the surprising things started. Izaya shifted himself around before standing up on Izuku's shoulders with his arms on his waist. "Ha ha ha, yes! I can feel your burning passion and it makes my own flames burn even brighter. And as such, I cannot allow myself to lose."
