Chapter 11- The Real Enemy

~Mitch's PoV~

Lunch ended with the signal of the bell and dismissed the students. Sophomores and Freshman made their way towards the cafeteria while the upper class men pushed through the current to reach their classrooms. Even though the school opened a year ago, in the small town, it filled up quickly and the population rapidly increased in Cubegin. So the hallways were pretty packed with the slow and fast walkers.

"Mitch! Mitch!" A voice shouted over the crowd.

"Seto?" I responded, perplexed, recognizing the voice.

Seto found his way through the wave of students and lead me back to the cafeteria. I insisted that I needed to get to class, but he persuaded me to stay.

"What is it? Look if the seniors are messing around with you again, tell Ty or Sky about it-"

"Shhh!" Seto shushed me. He checked his surroundings, then motioned me to follow him to an empty table in the back of the lunch room. "It's not that, something else happened...I think Sky's in danger. I tried to find him but his classroom is upstairs, so I found you and I have to tell someone at least."

"Spit it out then." I whispered.

He inhaled deeply then exhaled. "Four years before I stumbled across you, Ty and Jerome, I was a failed experiment that executed other failed tests. About a week before I escaped, my best friend died by my hand. The weird thing though is that she's back."

"Wait, what? Someone who died over five years ago...is back- who? How's Sky in danger?" I asked, ignoring the fact that he's killed.

"Britney, she mentioned 'Hero hybrid' when we talked telepathically and something about him assisting her. That's another weird thing too as I think about it...she never had that ability before."

"Look, during seventh hour: Sky, Ty, and I are in English. I'll tell them, then we can all meet up after school at Sky's house."

"Nonononono, Sky can't be alone. Britney might get to him before we have a chance, we need to ditch school and get somewhere safe to talk." He insisted, panic in his voice.

I sighed and ruffled my hair, if Britney gets Sky...from Seto's explanation and panic, we could be in trouble. Although, he might be overreacting a bit..

"I'm not!" Seto yelled. He clutched his head and moaned. "Stop...no, s-stop it!"

"What's wrong?"

"I-I can hear everyone's t-thoughts..." Seto muttered.

Great, perfect timing. Ever since Jerome, Ty and I found Seto, he's had random bursts of magic and reading minds. At times, it's annoying and troublesome but sometimes it pops up at the worst possible moments, like now. His mind reading abilities usually last an hour, the longest it stayed was a day or two. Being in a crowd is the worst part though, he literally can't hear his own thoughts.

"Hey, something wrong with your friend?"

I turned around and met face to face with...the school nurse? She smiled at me and glanced over at Seto with a concerned expression.

"He's just um..stressed out from the algebra test last hour. We should get going..right Seto?" I asked, trying to help him stand up and move.

"You two can go to the nurses office if he needs to calm down, it's quiet in there." She assured us.

I simply smiled and nodded, then left the cafeteria with Seto. Nurses office? Seto whispered a low yes. Nurses office.

After Seto and I made it to the nurses office on the second floor, he began to calm down and regain control over his own thoughts. I played around with the Popsicle sticks in a small container, until he was ready to talk or say anything.

"Hey Mitch, what's the nurses name?" Seto asked, tiredly.

I pushed against the wall with my foot, in the wheel chair, and wheeled over to the nurses desk. "Dr. Pepper. Why?"

He shrugged, "Just wondering." Seto glanced back at me, as if he was waiting for some sort of reaction or something.

~Sky's PoV~

"Alchemy studies began over a century ago, when our ancestors discovered the Blaze rod could be used to craft a brewing stand. The first potion brewed was a awkward potion that had no effects, but with some added ingredients, it could make almost any potion. Now the thick and mundane potion could be used like an awkward potion in some cases but-" Mr. Cobalt stopped abruptly and glanced at his students.

I glanced up and unfortunately made eye contact with the science teacher. I hide my phone and tried to turn it off, but he had already caught me.

"Mr. Dahlberg, turn off your electronic device at this instant and make your way to the principles office, now." Mr Cobalt ordered.

I sighed and hid my face as I left the classroom. The principles office was on the first floor, so I had plenty of free time while I walked down the hall. Stopping at my locker, I switched my smart phone with an old flip phone that I found a month ago. What, do you think I was going to let them have my real phone?

Making my down the stairs, a girl rushed up them and smacked right into me. We fell a couple of steps before I finally stopped.

"Hey watch where your going-"

"Huh-oh! I'm sosososoooo sorry! I was rushing to my next class and didn't want to be too late on my first day!" The girl exclaimed.

I helped her to her feet and wiped a lock of blond hair from her face. She dusted off her black t-shirt with a butter ingot and exhaled deeply.

"My name's Britney by the way! I'm a sophomore and well, just moved here." Britney explained.

"I'm Adam, but my friends call me Sky. I'm a senior and just moved here too but started my first day of school, yesterday." I said.

She smiled. "Hey, even though you just started school here too, mind showing me where the nurses office is? I think I scratched my ankle during the fall.."

I glanced at her ankle and sure enough, it had a small scratch with a few drops of blood. I nodded, the nurses office was past the principles office but that could wait.

We turned around the corner and walked into the nurses office. Seto and Mitch were passed out for some reason, and somehow in the nurses office. I gazed back at Britney who disappeared into thin air, what was going on?

"Confused? Won't be for long.." Britney's voice echoed through the walls, followed by an evil laugh.

I walked towards Seto and Mitch, but a sudden pain in my head exploded and forced me to stop abruptly. My vision began to fade away as the black shade took over. I leaned against the wall for support and watched Herobrine appear, with Britney at his side, both wielding snow-white eyes. They mentioned something about Seto but my hearing was long gone. I tried to conjure up a fire ball, but my amulet, enchanted by Seto, blocked my power.

"The powerful trio, will cease to exist." Herobrine muttered under his breath as I blacked out.
