Chapter 8

Nearly two months had passed since Alex Chu had been arrested. Jihyun had already testified at his court hearing and Alex had been sentenced several years in prison. Both Jihyun and Ximen were trying to put off their alleged break up. Somewhere over the last two months, Jihyun and Ximen had stopped faking their emotions towards each other. They had actually fallen for each other but hadn't told the other. Shancai and the other members of F4 all knew that they liked each other and kept trying to create the perfect scenario for them to confess but each time something went wrong. Thankfully there was a 3-week break coming up and Si had a plan...

Jihyun and Lei were leaving their music class when Si, Meizuo, Ximen and Shancai met up with them. Si had a massive grin on his face. Jihyun looked a bit sceptical and lei instantly knew what Si was planning. Meizuo nudged Ximen, who then stepped forward to talk to Jihyun "We are all going to England for two weeks of the break" he smiled slightly "Would you like to join us?" he asked. Jihyun looked to everyone and then Ximen "When you say 'we', you mean F4 and Shancai?" she smirked. Ximen nodded in response. Jihyun smiled brightly and nodded "I would love to join you guys. I haven't had a trip anywhere since I went on my break from the spotlight" The six friends then headed to the lunchroom. As they were walking, someone called out to Ximen, causing him and Jihyun to look back. A girl with long, black hair approached them. She was one of the girls that lead the F4 fan club at the university. This girl was particularly fond of Ximen. Jihyun recognised her and slipped her hand in Ximen's, making him smile and the girl frown "You two are still together?" the girl asked. Ximen nodded "We are. Did you think Ji-Ji and I would break up so quickly?" he asked the girl. Jihyun smiled softly "Xi and I aren't that easily broken up. If we have an issue we talk it out" the girl glared at Jihyun. She crossed her arms and pouted "Ximen has never been in an actual relationship. What makes you so special?" Jihyun smiled softly to the girl "I'm not special. I just treat him like a human being who has his own emotions instead of an object that people claim" the girl looked at Jihyun as she continued to talk "I see Ximen for who he is as a person. I didn't fall for Ximen because of his looks" the others looked at Jihyun too "I fell for him because of his personality" hearing this made Ximen smile slightly but the girl wasn't having any of it and she glared at Jihyun again. All Jihyun did was smile and this sent the girl storming off.

Jihyun watched as the girl stormed off. She smirked slightly, knowing it would not be the last time the F4 fan club would interact with her. She turned and started walking towards the lunchroom again. Ximen caught up to Jihyun "You seem pleased with what just happened" he stated. Jihyun looked to her partner "This won't be the only time they will interact with us" Ximen looked a little confused. Jihyun smiled softly "Don't you listen to rumours or read the university's student forum?" she asked him "that girl was one of the leaders of the F4 fan club. Her favourite member of F4 is you" everyone listened to the Korean idol as she spoke "The four leaders of the F4 fan club each obsess over you four guys. I found out they were pissed when Si and Shancai started dating, more so than the girls in Shancai's class. Now the one guy who finds an interest in women who are the same age as him is dating the only Korean in the school" she laughed slightly "they aren't happy about that" her smile then faded "I only brought trouble for you guys when I started here" Shancai hugged Jihyun. Lei and Meizuo put their hands on Jihyun's shoulders while Si patters her pack. Ximen stood directly in front of the Idol "You didn't bring us the trouble, Jihyun" he smiled softly "we voluntarily got involved" Jihyun's green eyes widened slightly as Ximen had pulled her towards him and wrapped his arms around her. The others smirked then quietly slipped away to the lunchroom, leaving the two standing in the now empty hallway.

Ten minutes had passed before Jihyun and Ximen had realized their friends had left them. Ximen let go of Jihyun and they both stood there awkwardly. The Korean idol looked at the F4 member "Xi...there's something I want to tell you but I don't know how you would react to it" she spoke softly. Ximen's brown eyes met Jihyun's green ones "I have something to tell you too. Can we discuss it after the trip?" he asked. Jihyun nodded as it gave her time to figure out how she was going to confess her emotions for him. The two then began to walk hand in hand to the lunchroom to join their friends. While they were eating lunch, Shancai brought up the school concert that was being held just before the break "The concert is only a couple of weeks away but they are short one performer" she sighed. Jihyun nodded "the music professor and I were talking about it today. He said that if they didn't have another performer then they would cancel the entire concert" Lei smiled a bit as he saw the look on Jihyun's face "so I told him I would be the last performer" everyone looked to the Korean idol. Ximen even looked a bit surprised " I thought you were going to avoid singing until your break was over" Jihyun ran her hand through her hair and smiled awkwardly "I was but then over the last couple months I became inspired and began writing again" she took a book out of her bag and showed it to them. I was almost filled with song lyrics and music compositions. Lei looked impressed "Your lyrics are different from your previous songs" Jihyun nodded. She put the book back in her bag "Before when I wrote songs, I wasn't writing from my own experience. Now I am" she smiles softly. Everyone smiled at the Korean idol and for the rest of their lunch break, they talked about the trip they were going to take.

After their lunch break had ended, F4 and Jihyun had to part ways with Shancai so they could go to their business class. Jihyun had to make a stop at her locker so she ran ahead of them. As Jihyun was closing her locker, a group of girls approached her, one of them slamming their hand on the lockers making Jihyun flinch slightly. She looked at the group of girls and noticed that they were from the F4 fan club "Two encounters in one day" she adjusted her jacket "lucky me" One of the girls told Jihyun to shut up while another one demanded she break up with Ximen as they thought a washed up idol didn't deserve him. Hearing them call her a washed up idol pissed Jihyun off a little "I'm not washed up. I'm taking a break after 10 years of singing. Idols usually take breaks after every tour. I haven't taken a break since I started" she growled slightly. Out of the corner of her eye, Jihyun noticed F4 come into view and see the girls surrounding Jihyun. None of the girls had noticed them yet so Jihyun used it to her advantage "What makes you think I would comply with your demand?" she asked them. The girl who had slammed her hand on the lockers pushed Jihyun into the lockers. Jihyun hit her shoulder, the same one that had been damaged by Alex, causing her to gasps slightly and fall to the ground. F4 saw this and ran to their friend, Ximen calling out to her "Ji-Ji!" he pushed passed the group of girls and knelt beside Jihyun. Si, Lei and Meizuo got through the group too. Lei then turned to the girls "Who pushed her into the lockers?" he demanded. The fan club had never seen Lei angry before "Answer me!" his voice raised. Ximen helped Jihyun up and she put her hand on Lei's shoulder "it's fine, Lei" she smiles softly "They won't come forward anyway. I did mention before that the first encounter we had wouldn't be the last" she winced from the pain shooting through her shoulder "I just didn't think they would corner me at my locker and use an unfair advantage against me" Si turned to the group of girls and yelled at them to scram before they pissed him off too. After the girls left, Ximen and Lei took Jihyun to the infirmary while Meizuo and Si went to report the incident. After all that was done, the five of them were excused to go home.
