Chapter 26

Chats pov:
It's been about 3 hours since I left marinette with the nurse and I'm returning into the room, as I notice marinette isn't in the bed. "Marinette?" I call out loud, Mia comes out looking confused. "Everything alright chat?" She asks oblivious to the missing girl. "Where's marinette," I ask as I walk over to her, she looks behind her stunned. "She was right there a few minutes ago." She says puzzled. "I'll check the ladies room hold on." I watch as she enters the back part of the building and come back out within 20 seconds looking slightly panicked, marinettes not with her. "She's Not in there." Where could she have gone. She wouldn't leave just like that, she has no idea where she is. "Do not and I mean DO NOT, tell anyone what's happened yet. I'll call you if I find her and in 20 minutes if I haven't, then send out an alert. I'm going to look around." I say as I rush out of the room. "Yes chat," she calls out after me.

Marinettes pov:
As the nurse goes back into the back room I see a chance to escape and find nino, I need to ask him what he's doing here. I sneak out of the bed making no noise grab my normal clothes, change, and quietly on bare feet rush out of the room in the way nino left.
As I'm walking down the hallways they all look the same, it's basically empty and I'm guessing this is a wing to the warehouse. I take another turn and there are two large doors in front of me, they have glass in the middle of them so I can see through. As I look through them I see around 40 people in a large large room, designed to resemble a high school cafeteria but with a stage like table in the middle. It's been around 10 minutes since I've left and I'm guessing the nurse has most likely noticed I'm gone by now.
Then I see him, it's definitely nino. I feel like crying and I'm about to burst into the room, when suddenly two hands wrap around my waist, and a hand covers my attempt at a scream. "Shhhhh, mari. What are you doing out here." My heart settles a slight as I recognise chats voice. "Don't scream and don't let them know we're here." He releases me. I turn around to see him furious, "Don't hurt me chat. I'm sorry, I don't know what I was doing."  That's a lie. What is one of my close friends doing here? I'm looking directly in his eyes and he grabs me by the wrist, takes me into a room close by and locks the door. It's a large closet like space enough for maybe 11 people. "Do you have any idea how they would react if you just barged into the gathering room." He says almost yelling. "Are... are you going to hurt me," I say slowly taking a step back. He pulls me into him and I squeak as I think he's about to do something but he doesn't. He's just hugging me. "I never wanted to hurt you marinette." He says sounding hurt that I even thought that. "I thought you left," he says quietly and he mumbles something else but I can't understand. "I'm sorry kitty, I just. Something happened and I needed to get out of that room." I say making up a half fake story. "Did Mia do something to you?" He says seriously, "Mia?" Who is that. "The nurse, didn't she tell you her name." I blink stupidly, "no.." I mumble in response looking away. The door knob turns but is stopped halfway because it's locked. Then there's a knock, "hey! Who's in there?"

Chats pov:
"I thought you left me. Abandoned us." I mumble the last part, and I'm not sure if she heard me or not. There's a million thoughts running through my head and my family is standing in the middle of it. I shake my head. Don't. Go. There.
"I'm sorry kitty, I just." She abruptly stops talking and I know she's about to tell a lie. She's easy to read,  sometimes. "Something happened and I needed to get out of that room." She says looking anywhere but my gaze. I'll play along for her shake, she's shaken up and I don't want to stress her out. "Did Mia do something to you?" I speak sternly. "Mia?" She asks puzzled. "The nurse," god dammit Mia, "didn't she tell you her name? "She looks dumbfounded as she reply's "no.." mumbling.
I hear the knob twist, stop, then a knock, "hey! Who's in there?"
I freeze before I realise who it is, "hold on I'm coming," it's luka, what should I say? Why am I in here with marinette, why would I be in a storage closet, I open the door, "hey luka." He looks at me confused, "chat? Why are you in here." He's looking behind me and I do too, about to explain why a girl and me are locked in a closet. But she's gone, "I was looking for paper towels for the nursing block," I say quickly making up a story, he seems to forget the door was locked, "how is she?" He asks too familiar like, "she's fine." Marinette must be popular around Paris. So much commotion about her in the news, a few people know her here, and they don't even go to school anymore. "That's good well I just needed to grab paper towels as well, 'turtle shield' was flexing himself and knocked over a domino affect of beer." He says half laughing, "of course he did" I say more warmly. "I'll walk out with you" I say to him, grabbing the towels next to me and chucking them at him, he catches it in one hand, and he laughs "show off aren't you." And as we walk out of the closet I shut the door turning the light off.

Marinettes pov:
I'm hiding in a small cupboard holding a mop and a few brooms. It's hard not to cough and I don't get out until I hear the door shut, I still wait a couple minutes, maybe 5. and as I open the door it's completely black and I fall out with the brooms on top of me. "How great marinette," i say salty to myself, chat bursts into the room, the hallway light reflecting what I've done, and he starts to laugh, "oh marinette, with that crash I thought something bad had happened." he walks over to me and picks me up. "Put me down chat I can walk." I'm trying to struggle out of his arms but he's stronger than me and I give up as we enter the hallway once again.
