Chapter 2

I started to follow Matthew but my knees were stinging. I loooked down at them and narrowed my eyes. Blood was gushing out of my cut. Matthew looked back curiously and then looked at my knees. He sucked in his breath and made an o-shape with his mouth.

"You need cleaned up" he said. "There is a nurse here down in the next corrider" he explained.

I followed him silently down the hall. He knocked three times on the door and then flashed me a smile.

"Dont be too scared" he said while laughing heartily.

The door flung open and i jumped out of my skin. The ugliest woman I had ever seen stood before me. I understood why Matthew would think Id be scared! She had a plonker of a nose with a huge spot on the end. On her left cheek was a mole with jett black hairs sticking out of it. Her eyes were kind though as she smiled at me.

"New girl had an accident" Matthew smiled. "What happened anyway?" He asked. I told him how I had thumped onto the ground. Suddenly he began to laugh so hard he couldnt breathe. At first I felt offended but I was soon laughing with him.

"Here I'll come in with you" he offered. I nodded shyly. The woman who was called Mrs Harrison (the school nurse) patched me up and gave me a pair of the schools spare trousers. I gratefully took them.

While we were walking to class. Matthew started conversation.

"Look," he started "you dont have to be shy around me all right? And call me Matty" I smiled and relaxed. I felt releif over what he had just said. I started telling him about Liverpool.

"Ahh I knew you were from Liverpool your accent gave it away! So why did you move?"

Crap! What would I say? I hesitated before saying "oh my mum got a new job!"

He nodded "Nice! All my mum does is clean all day as you can see she tried to clean me he lifted his beanie to show a short clean haircut. I laughed.

"My mum is the exact same!" Maybe thats why she was a janitor...

We walked into a classroom and suddenly I felt 40 judging eyes upon me. Matthew waved at a girl and she smiled warmly at him. Was that his girlfriend?

"Oh you must be Bloom?" A tall skinny man with a small piece of hair above his lip said with tight lips.

"Yea" I said gaining my confidence. This school was going to be different from the last I was going to get noticed!

"Welcome to English class I'm Mr Small"

"Ironic right?" Matthew teased.

Mr Small rolled his eyes. "Take your seat Matty and Bloom you can sit over there beside Lily"

Lily was the coolest person I had ever seen. Her hair was long blonde and shiny. It had blue highlights through it. She was so pretty. Her eyes were big and blue and her lips were a rosy pink colour. She smiled widely and patted the seat next to her.

"Call me Blue! No one else calls me Lily except Mr Small!" She whispered. I nodded. "Well everyone just calls me Bloom!" I whispered back. Blue giggled.

"Was Matty nice to you?" She asked.

"Yea he's pretty cool" I replied.

"Yea that's why he's my best friend" I smiled. I could see why Matty and Blue were friends. I asked Blue about the girl Matty had waved at.

"Oh that's Matty's girl Willow she's captain of the girls football team." Blue explained.

"Aww cool there is a girls football team?" I asked excitedly. Football is amazing! It is my favourite sport! In Liverpool there was no girls football team actually it was such a dump there wasn't even any teams!

"Just be careful if your going to sign up those girls are brutal" a guy said from behind me. I spun my head around and my heart stopped. Tall (from what I could see of him) blonde side swoop, pools of blue in which I could see my redening reflection.

"Eavesdropping Harry?" Blue teased.

"I'm only warning you Willow is pretttyy competitive" I giggled nervously. Why did I just do that? Ugh! He then did something that sent my heart doing sommersaults. He winked at me. I smiled flirtly and spun back round in my seat. Blue raised her eyebrows. I didn't even hear Mr Small announcing the homework. Suddenly the bell intruded on my daydream and I shot right back into reality.
