Chapter 26

***

Peter was putting on an exagerated English accent while he bowed and asked me if I would join him for a smoothie. I curtseyed and beamed and accepted. We took off skipping hand in hand, trying not to step on the cracks.

I saw a boy who looked awfully like Matty up in front of us. I stopped. It couldnt be him. Why would Matty be in Bloomingville. I didnt tell Peter but I suspiciously picked up our pase. The boy in front was walking slowly with his head down, he sighed regretfully. Peter looked at him from me and smirked.

"Whats up with this bloke?" Peter nodded at him. He had whispered too loud as the boy quickly spun on his heel and glared at us but soon his expression changed to one of sorrow. My heart stopped. It suddenly raced so fast my head thumped. I couldnt contain myself, I was so amazed he had come looking for me. I should have said goodbye, I regret that. I looked into those pools of blue and watched how he flicked his hair back nervously.

"Im guessing this is the someone else?" Peter kept looking from the boy to me. I ignored him, I was just trying to take this in then I whispered,

"Harry." He smiled and ran and took me into his arms. He hugged me so intensely I left this world altogether. It was only me and Harry. Questions started to arise. Why was he here? Why did he kiss Blue? Had he forgiven me? I stupidly said,

"Your hair...its like Mattys." I was trying to work it out in my head. It was all so confusing.

Harry held me back by the shoulders.

"Is that the way it is?" He asked, his voice cracking in the middle. What did he mean?

"No I mean why did you kiss Blue?" I managed to say through my tears.

Harrys expression changed into one of anger and insult.

"WHAT?" He shouted, "In the hospital?" He asked. I nodded while I felt my eyes pump up and the feel of his touch sent shivers through my body. I gave a small nod.

"Matty." Was all he could say because now he had me in his arms and was leaning in. I put my lips up to meet his and sparks and passion flew everywhere. I had been deprived of his touch, his kisses for so long now. It all came flooding back to me. I ran my hands through his now longish hair. He kept his hand in the small of my back and traced my spine, just as I remembered. I then felt eyes burning into my neck. I broke the kiss and looked behind me. Peter. Why hadnt I been more considerate? Letting Peter stand and watch that was monstrous of me. I looked at his sad eyes. He searched mine. He knew there was someone else and that I didnt like him back why hadnt he left? He nodded.

"See ya Poppy." I was now searching his eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"Have to go get some of your dads mighty fine spagetti!" He smirked. I smiled at him and gave him a look to say thanks for understanding and that we will talk later. I then swivelled round and staref into the eyes of Harry. He put his arms around me and we began to walk.

"Lets talk." He said seriously. I nodded.

He asked me why I left. I asked him why he forgave me. He told me he had never met anyone so special and beautiful in his life and that he had been stupid to let me go. I told him I had been stupid running off everytime something went wrong. He looked extremely concerned when I told him about Dad.

"And he has never hit you since?" I shook my head and smiled.

"Hes really trying, you know?" Harry looked into my eyes.

"Hey, Ive got something for you!" He perked up. I took an envelope out of his pocket. I tore it open and pulled out an invitation to West Barren High Dance. It was on Saturday, the same day as Peters exhibition but Im sure he will understand. He put my arms round his neck,

"Did you bring this cause you were sure I would take you back?" Harry laughed and kissed my head.

"So will you be my date?" He asked.

I kissed him.

"So thats a yes?" He teased. I nodded and smiled at him. He had come for me. After everything he was here and he was bringing me to the school dance...where I would have to face Blue and Matty.
