"Aphira was a young, brave but foolish daughter." Whiplash curled his tail in, staring at the boat out at sea, waiting to be set on fire as his old friend, Kiara, spoke.
He hadn't meant to do it. Blinded by rage, and wanting desperately to rid the Hunters of everything they had, Whiplash had fired at Aphira, not meaning to kill her...
But that's what had happened. Whiplash realized that Whip was nudging him to speak, but he hadn't known Aphira beyond her Hunter life, and he realized everything he would say if he were to speak, would be criticizing her path. Without knowing her prior to her Hunter year, he had no right to say anything, so he instead nudged Hiccup, who nodded in understanding.
They raised their bows and fired at the ship.
With Ryker gone, having drowned when an escaped Scauldron met him under the docks (they had a body that time, so they were sure), and Aphira dead as well, the Hunters had scattered, broken and without a leader. So they left the Edge, not wanting to meet new dangers that would hurt someone else.
Five years later...
Five years. Five years since Ryker drowned, Aphira died, and the Hunters scattered.
Five years of peace.
Until all of that peace turned to chaos.
(So, GUESS WHAT? I'm making this a series at this point. Not sure if Howling Echoes will part of said series, but I didn't want to make an eighty chapter story again XD. Not sure what to call the next 'book', but I'm keeping the 'echoes' theme. Like...The Echoes Series or something.)
(Lemme know if you have name thoughts. ALSO! I will need a fan dragon for the next book, so if anybody has one they want put in, I'll add it.)
(I'll put in an extra chapter that tells you what it's called and I'll try to add a link to it when it starts.)
(Until then, feel free to give me some ideas, and I hope you enjoyed NOT having to read through eighty chapters to finish the story this time XD).
(Also sorry about Aphira. This is technically the second time I've killed a character, but sort of the first? I mean, Whip came back! Then again, he's also kind of the cause for Aphira to be thought to be dead so....)
